Almost Every Car on Kingston Targeted in Ticket Blitz

Crown Heights [CHI] — Mayor Bloomberg bragged recently that he balanced the city’s budget without raising taxes. What he forgot to mention was, the city doesn’t need tax revenue when it can squeeze out all it needs from its hard working citizens at will.

This long known fact was demonstrated today, as Bloomberg’s army of looters came to town and ticketed almost every single car that was parked on Kinston Avenue’s curbside.

Recent regulations stipulate that no car may be parked in the same spot for over two hours. The “meter maids” checked each car’s registration number, and when they came back down the avenue two hours later, they gave a $35 dollar ticket to any car whose serial number came up again.

The problem is, there were many cars that were parked in one spot for a short period of time, who had the misfortune of being somewhere else on Kingston when the two hours were over. One such driver protested his ticket to the maid, saying he was not in one place for the entire two hours, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

Aside from the fact that this is a cowardly way to tax the people without having to face the electorate with tax hikes, ticketing in such a fashion is also wrong on moral grounds. The city cannot simply punish someone on whim, they must prove his guilt first in court.

In the American system of justice, the way it is supposed to be is the accused is innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. However, in this Kingdom of Bloomberg, when the government punishes you, you are guilty until you take a day off from work, go to court and prove beyond reasonable doubt that you are innocent.. and then (maybe) you will get your $35 dollars back.

Good luck with that.

Submit this to Jimmy Justice he exposes cops like this all the time. Another crony cop who thinks shes above the law nothing new in the new police state

Well, we have a fancy nice community council with a fancy new name. What will they do to help all these motorists?

    Answer…NOTHING.

  • Tsugin

shameless, CHinfo. way to editorialize this minor incident in which the police actually enforcing the law into a rant about how broken the government is. pretend that this happened on the other side of Eastern Parkway; would you a) even run the ‘story’ and b) come to the same conclusion about the police and the mayor’s office? your one saving grace is that you’re very allowing in your comments, and anyway I’m sure the rest of the olam will tell me how I’m being a Nazi for 40+ posts…

  • this is normal

What about the police van that gives tickets to jews every night, i see them pulling people over and when its a african american they let the person go when its a jew they sit in their car for half an hour then give a ticket, and if you try to fight with them their response is if you dont like it become a police officer

  • yos

i doubt that 80% of the cars on kingston were there for more than 2 hours, but not in the same spot.! The 2hr limits are clearly marked, everyone knows, but they take advantage thinking they can’t get caught… typical CHers, trying to beat the system. well not this time!

  • yo

Acc the american law… ‘innocent until proven guilty” doesn’t apply by fines… only once you go on trial.. Poor journalism

  • criminal government

Even if they had been parked there for two hours… we are tax paying, honest citizens. They drive good people nuts for such minor infractions where no ones safety or well being is at stake.

This energy by police is being wasted on hurting good people. Instead they should invest it fully on real crimes. The system makes us all criminals.

  • SHE DID NOT MONITOR the cars for 2 hours

Actually, my car got ticketed by this Thompson weesel!

    the question is,

is it legal for her to leave several blocks away, then return, & say i gave all these cars tickets bec i remember them ALL here 2 hours ago!

even if she was not making it up,

does that prove that the car did not leave in while she was gone??

i regularly, move my car close to 2 hours then go around the block if the spot is not taken, there is no law violated by re-parking IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT!

this over eager “bacon” chasor has been seen all over kingston ave gleefully giving tickets many blocks apart
it is ILLEGAL for her to write a ticket which claims that the car never left her “eye-shot” continually for the duration of 2 hours!

that is patently false & thus Criminal testimony on her part

  • she LEFT & DIDNT STAY TO WATCH 2HRS STR8

it is ILLEGAL for her to write a ticket which claims that the car never left her “eye-shot” continually for the duration of 2 hours!

that is patently false & thus Criminal testimony on her part

  • SHE MUST BE REPORTED! @311

Once she leaves the area, it is illegal for her to claim that she knows for a fact that the car stayed put all the while while she left! & lost site of the vehicle!

    REPLY TO # 4
THE SCENARIO OF US COMPLAINING IF THIS WOULD OCCUR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF EASTERN PARKWAY COULD NEVER HAPPEN SIMPLY FOR THE REASON THAT THEY WOULDN’T GIVE TICKETS ON THE OTHER SIDE. I LIVE ON CROWN BETWEEN BROOKLYN AND NEW YORK. ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING IS BETWEEN 12:00 & 1:30. IF YOU ARE ONE MINUTE LATE AND ON THE WRONG SIDE OR IF YOU DOUBLE PARKED AND HAVE TO MOVE YOUR CAR BACK AT 1:30, AND AR A MINUTE LATE YOU WILL GET A TICKET.THEY SIT AT THE CORNER AND WAIT, SO THAT THEY CAN POUNCE ON CARS IN THOSE FEW MINUTES. ALTERNATE FOR CROWN BETWEEN NOSTRAND AND BEDFORD IS 8-9:30 IN THE MORNING. I DRIVE THAT WAY TO WORK , AND YOU CAN USUALLY FIND 5-10 CARS PARKED ON THE WRONG SIDE BETWEEN 8:30-9:00, AND YOU WILL NEVER SEE A CAR TICKETED. i WAS TOLD THAT YOU CAN PARK BY A EXPIRED METER A WHOLE DAY ON PITKIN AVE., AND NEVER GET A TICKET. I CANNOT THINK OF A MORE CLASSIC CASE OF REVERSE DISCRIMINATION.

  • #7 ur wrong!

the burdon of proof is always on the accuser!

otherwise what stops any random civilian from claiming abuse by cops w/o proof

they will just toss out his claim until he produces proof to backup his allegation, including allegations who’s penalty is a monitory fine

  • she must stay watch for it to b legal

if she leaves, (she was seen on kingston & empire,

    up to kingston & president!

by definition she has left “eye-shot” from 99% of the vehicles she ticketed all across kingston ave

i too routinely make sure that when it gets close to 2 hours i drive around the block looking for another parking, but if there is non, & my former spot is still open, i am legally fully allowed to re-enter that parking,

if she left and returned & ticketed my car, she is in affect, doing so under false pretenses, as she is not allowed to ticket a vehicle she did not continuously observe to verify that it did not leave the spot in the course of the 2 hours

  • police van

to #5, is this a van that hangs out about president around albany/troy?? I got pulled over at midnight for not signalling a turn when there was no one on the road and I was just dropping off the sitter. After that I noticed a few times a week the same police van driving around pulling people over.

It’s not about them upholding the law, its about the city overemploying de facto walking revenue generators.

If they had real police blanketing the city like they do meter maids, there wouldnt be a crime commited for years.

Whatever, I feel bad for these people, they must be bitter angry sad people to wanna do this job. Nebech

Let’s help out our fellow drivers: When you walk down the street and you see a car parked at a meter, check the meter and see if it is close to zero. If it is, do the car driver a favor and put a quarter in the meter. You may prevent that car from getting a ticket. This will work in areas such as Boro Park where there are still meters, until they install the munimeters there. I put in a few quarters there on several occasions, sometimes just steps ahead of the meter ticketer. I saved a few people from getting a ticket. This is not my idea. I learned it from a very nice woman who lived in our neighborhood many years ago.

  • get a fair system

BTW in los angeles they have a small piece of chalk attached to a stick and make a small mark on a designated tire. When they come back 2 hours later if the chalk is there then they ticket it as the chalk gets erased if u drive a bit.

  • cher

this is off topic but here is a different kind of abuse that many airlines like to do.what the airlines do is they keep the fares low but they charge you outrageous fees for checking your luggage underneath the plane.so mayor bloomberg is doing something very similar to what the airlines are doing.the airlines keep the fares low but charge you for the luggage that you check underneath the plane.so mayor bloomberg is doing the same thing.he is keeping the taxes low but charging outrageous fees for anybody that wants to park their car on kingston ave.i know that this is off topic but this is very similar to the abuse that the airlines are doing to you.

  • THIS IS CRAZY

NYPD *TARGETS* *JEWISH* *NEIGHBORHOODS* FOR CRIMINAL ENFORCEMENT AND ARREST. JAMAICA AVENUE, QUEENS [WHICH IS BLACK] WOULD *NOT* HAVE THIS HAPPEN.
JUST GOT TWO TICKETS TOTALING OVER $100 IN JEWISH AREA, X CH, FROM NYPD

  • chalk

most places where this happens, the cops come by with chalk and mark the tire and road, so that when they come back they ticket the cars where the mark matches up. If this was not done, you can probably claim that you were in a different spot (moved the car)…

  • No Jew Parking

I noticed on Albany Ave once shabbos came in, the cops ticketed every car parked by a meter, because time ran out. they should know better than to park in the shabbos ‘no jew zone’. the same applies to EP which has alternate parking on shabbos. every house on that block is owned by jews yet they cannot park there over shabbos without a ticket…..

  • I-m all for upholding the law

but for her to make a claim that she knows for a fact that all these cars have been in her view for over 2 hours str8! is false & thus a dereliction of duty

there are many ppl who will move the car before 2 hours to follow the law

but if she wasn’t there to watch that, they will still get ticketed by her false claim that she kept continuous watch

the proof that she couldn’t have kept continuous watch is that her tickets span 5+ blocks all across kingston ave

  • Wakeup

Ok to all unaware people, you sound stupid… In every city in the US, where it says a time limit for parking, this is how they inforce it! They scan each car, then periodically scan them again to see if they were there for longer than the limit… So, not only is it completely legal, but this is the way it’s done everywhere! She’s allowed to leave!

  • anybody home???

Again I ask….WHERE IS THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL IN THIS?

Isn’t this their job, to ensure we are given FAIR treatment & not subjected to a campaign of harassment from cops?

WHY ARE THEY SILENT??? We never hear anything from them. What the hell do they do all day except scam us all & line their own pockets?

Have any ticketed drivers approached the JCC? What did they say? We need to know.

  • traffic help

    #17…Zalmy T…your annoying!
secondly, she doesnt have to sit and watch the car for 2 hours and stare at it. She can make a marking on her notes, and say, 2002 ford, license plate abc 1234 first observed at 10AM, and now its 12PM…good enough for a ticket. Learn the law before you criticize it.

  • rivki

It is unbelievable that new yorkers milk the government until it is run dry and then complain when taxed. to pay for all the section 8, food stamps and medicaid for all of you the money must come from somewhere…. you get what you vote for.
    good luck

  • CM in CH

Please. They’re all guilty. Don’t break the law and this sort of thing doesn’t happen to you.

  • Confronted a cop today

Today I saw a Police officer park at a pump to buy coffee. I got so ticked off that I went into the shop to confront him. Turns out he was a very decent guy and he explained to me why cops can park illegally because if they get called to a real emergency, they have to be able to jump into the car and speed off, so they need their cars nearby. When I told him about the traffic cops (that give the parking tickets) he called them pencil pushers and agreed with me that they should not be allowed to park their cars illegally because they aren’t out their for emergencys. So what Goldstein told the pencil pusher is 100% accurate. She feels she’s above the law when she is not.

  • Nebach

Last week I got a ticket because an old Muni-Meter stub was obscuring the VIN number on my dashboard. Does that take the cake or what?

  • moshe

whats with all the churchs around the hood that their are cars tripeled parked and on sidewalks.

  • no parker

since the meeters havebeen removed it has breen difficut to shop since verry little parking space has been avaible.surly somone complaned

I know you won’t post this, but just want to voice my observation, you can’t be a blogger and be

    —–

I actually thought she did a great job keeping her composure, while a bunch of noodnicks (who don’t appear to know anything about the law) nagged the crap out of her.

Ultimately, she is right, you can hear the dude with the van mumbling as he changes his story multiple times, and everyone else who thinks that they can park on Kingston Avenue as long as they want without obeying the laws designated for a reason.

Meters were put in place to help businesses flourish, if people were parked on Kingston all day, shoppers would have no place to park, and thus businesses would suffer for two reasons 1)fewer customers would be inclined to shop if there was no accessible parking. 2)with no means of easy transportation and having to carry groceries over longer distances, no local parking would result in shoppers purchasing less than they would have normally.

Trust me, I know first hand how vicious the meter maids (brownies) can be, but that doesn’t mean that everything they do is against the law, out to get the the ‘JEWS’ of CH, or evil Nazis (and mind you, calling them Nazis, belittles the Nazis – and that’s a terrible thing, there’s no comparison and G-D forbid to insinuate that it was a mere $35 ticket).
