Level One Build Bais Hamikdosh

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Today, Rabbi S Friedmans Class, Level 1 of Darchai Menachem, learned all about the events that took place on the 10th of Teves. Amongst the different lessons learned, the boys took upon themselves to have Ahavas Yisroel not only outside class but during class time as well. Rabbi Friedmans lesson ended with a hands on activity of building a model of the Beis Hamikdosh with “Snap it toys” through teamwork with all the boys.

I’m continuously impressed with the staff of D.M. Finally a school where the students come before all else. Keep up the good work!

Is this what our kids are learning these days? They don’t look like they should be playing with Legos instead of sitting with an open Gemora. These kids look to be 9 or 10 years old, when I was that age I was learning Gemora. If these pictures were of 2 or 3 year old I would think its cute.

To be quite frank with you, this is why our community is going down. It starts with a lack of an education for our kids, we are creating a generation of IGNORAMUSES.Chabad stands for Knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, not for C-nex, Blocks and Drawing….. Shame on You.
Some of my friends in Lakewood tell me their kids at this age are already studying pages of Gemora Baal Peh.Whats going to be with our kids, who will be the future of Lubavitch? A BUNCH of LEGO champs????
One last thing. If these are the klutz kep of Crown Heights, do we really need to publicize their photos? They and their families have to do Shiduchim too. When they get older Dos vet shaaten farren shiduch. What would a potential mother in law say? Isn’t this the kid that was playing with Lego when he should have been in fifth grade learning Gemora. Will he be able to answer his own children’s questions from Yeshiva? Or will he also tell his ten year old to go play with blocks? I guess if he takes after his father he will anyway be playing with blocks in the first place. And everyone will tell him how great he is doing instead of telling him the truth and pushing him to accomplish something with his life.
    Shame on you Darchei Menachem

    Dear embarrassed and ashamed,
That was an interesting post. So full of anger and hatred.
Well done, you’ve hurt a lot of people today, a good days work I would say.
Bottom line- true or not, if you were serious about what you said you should have called it in to the school, not posted it on the web.
You should be Embarrassed and Ashamed!

  • Fan of Yiddishe Neshamos

    To Embarrassed and Ashamed:
The torah teaches us that the way we are reflects our names that we have been given at our birth, and thia is a name that our parents chose for us, how much more so is it when we give ourselves names, after a comment like that, it only shows that you have truly picked a name that is best reflected for yourself. You should truly be EMBARRASED AND ASHAMED!

  • Great job!

To E & A: Do you have any educational background? One of the things lacking in the systems (not just Lubavitch) is the rush for indepth learning – the children become burnt out before you know it – I can promise you one thing these lucky boys will never ever forget what they have learnt. Kol Hakovod to the educators who are allowing the children to learn through experience!

Did you notice that this activity was the way the lesson ended? It’s a great way for the kids to remember what they learned. For all we know, because of this project, these kids will have a better knowledge of the details of the beis hamikdash than those children who were learning gemoro all day at 10 years old

  • me myself and i

    Embarrassed and Ashamed:

your comment really intrests me, i think you should be the next big educater of the entire lubavitch. you can start by opening up a school showing how great you are and after a number of years of success you will take over oholei torah, lubavich yeshiva, darchei and or menachem, oh yeh cheder at the ohel… oh you said somthing out shlichus so how about the online shluchim school… ooooh dont for get the girls schools.

you see my point is you should be Embarrassed and Ashamed of your self for writing such a comment, there are many schools in crown heights each one catering to a differant need of a differant type of kid.

you know if you were to attack OT or ULY you would be wrong and bad, but to do it to a small school like darchei and writing things like “this is why our community is going down”
or “these are the klutz kep of Crown Heights” or “who will be the future of Lubavitch?” shows your lack of sensitivity and maturity.

you see i agree with darchei menachem
in that class on the fast day they.

“the boys took upon themselves to have Ahavas Yisroel not only outside class but during class time as well”
you see you wrote “when I was that age I was learning Gemora”
well maybe if you were learning about ahavas yisroel back in a day then you wouldnt be writing like you did and ultimitly prolong the construction of the 3rd bais hamikdosh. what the whole lesson was about

  • Great Idea!

I think it’s amazing what this class did. The fact that they all had to work together to build something (which is hard for many children and adults). It also gave those who are more of the “object assembly” type to be able to prove their great intelligence!

  • a parent of dm

anyone who is in chinuch, or is a good parent, or even a person that has the slightest amount brains on his sholders would never say such a thing about such a incredible school.

this describing the person who made such a comment above…

non parent non educater no brainer..

i think mr know it all (not) you owe the school and its students an appoligy.

your particular statement that i wont repeate about the type of kids that go to darchai menachem is appauling. such a comment is not only hurting the staff, and the parents of darchai menachem, but it is hurting the children that attend

darchai menachem is not a school for kids like you describe them, darchai menachem is a school for regular kids who want to maximize their learning by being part of a small class size envoirment, who want to be listend to and cared for on their own level.

so calling these kids names is the oposite of what you should be doing you should be appluading them for their effort in trying to do even more then they did in any other school.

darchai menachem over the years has shown the world a whole new meaning of education, they have proven to the world that any child can succeed, it was only a few years ago when they sent off 3 of their students to join the CHidon sefer hamitzvos compatition in california. they didnt go there to “feel a part of it” they went their bc they studdied they got 100s on tests and knew the halachas fluently.

  • a mench

    hehe look at that.

this guy was busy learning gemoroh when he was in school at that age look at the way he turned out.

oh your freinds in lakwood!! they know what going on they are the real smart ones… im glad we really see through you and who you are…

these kids when they get to the age of that guy calling himself E & A they will be nice chasidishe yiddishe mentchen with a passion for yiddishkeit and cool level headed easy toget along with personality, their time will be spent doing good and important things for the world and

  • a mother in law

    hmm i have a choice.

2 names came up for my daughter they both sound great, and have alot in commen who should i pick

    Can you help me?

one at 9 years old went to darchai menachem as a child and had a real solid education. he learned about team work and ahavas yisroel around the time of asara b teves, and had a hands on activity with his class mates building a model bais hamikdosh.
when he was 11 he learned gemoroh using the latest and greatest technoligy and a world famus gemoroh brurah program via having the gemoroh broken apart not only helping him understand the gemoroh but also teaching him how to learn gemoroh on its own.

at 13 he joined the yeshivas mesivta divission of darchai menachem and got prepered for a out of town mesivta.

at 14 graduated darchai menachem and went to monsey yeshiva for a few years

at 16 he went to toronto to rabbi wagners mesivta
at 18 he went to morristown for 2 years.

at 20 he was sent on shlichus for 2 years in melborn.
at 22 he went back to morristown for its smicha program.

now hees in 770 part time and teaching part time in darchai menachem, helping and guiding kids on the same path he took…

    the second guy

he started learning chumash in pre 1 a
at 9 he was learning gemoroh
at 13 he was allready telling the teacher he knew better
at 18 he allready started smicha
at 25 he is still not mrried and is currently sitting in the internet cafe blogging and commenting on this sight.

he calles miself Embarrassed and Ashamed.

    WHO SHOULD I PICK???

  • a proud mother from darchei menachem

    to embarressed and ashamed:
Obviously you do not understand that the children who learn at Darchei Menachem were struggling in the regular yeshiva system, all for very different reasons, coming to Darchei Menachem they are given an oppurtunity to feel good about their accomplishments in learning Torah and are happy to be in school, each child is taught according to his level and eventually, with alot of patience from the staff, they all are able, when they are ready to learn gemorrah and mishnayos with the skills they need which by the way are not taught in the regular yeshivas. Leaving these children in the regular yeshiva system would be a disaster, putting these children at risk of being in the streets as teenagers.
Thank you Darchei Menachem for giving my child a better oppurtunity to grow up to be a chosid and a yirei shamayim and to be a proud frum jew.

  • Eli

Another problem with today’s classrooms is how they waste space! Look at those cubbies with papers and books inside them. If they don’t ever learn, just play with blocks all day, why have those cubbies there and why fill them with papers?

Such a shame. In my day, we never wasted precious space and we never wasted precious time writing juvenile posts about people’s chinuch approaches.

  • innovative educational fun

    to embarrassed and ashamed
i cant believe you!! how dare you say something so hateful and cruel. do you even realize that some of these kids need a visual to retain the information they learned? maybe even some cant sit and learn pag and pages of gemorrah at a time? so what?
thats not all there is, and they are all amazing and creative kids and thats what is important
if you dont have something nice to say, dont say anything at all!!! thats what i learnt

darchai menachem you are doing a great job, these kids look like they are learning and enjoying it at the same time
    kol hakavod!!!

  • Proud of our kids

    To Embarrassed and Ashamed:

As a musmach of 770 and parent of one of the children here,
I can only say Yaasher Koach to Rabbi Friedman and to all the staff at DM.

I have sent children to both OT and Lubavitcher Yeshiva and I have seen
both the good ( and bad ) of both Yeshivos.

Since you don’t seem to have learned much about Chabad, despite your gemorra kup,
let me explain that successful chinuch is the degree of penimius of G-dliness imbued, not the number of pages of gemorra learnt.

I don’t care what they do in Lakewood. This is Lubavich and I can guarantee that
the chinuch our kids are receiving in DM is excellent. I have personally witnessed the dedication of the rebbes and the growth of the students, in BOTH learning and Middos.

And to be quite frank with you, it is only because of narrow minded, shallow people like you, whose only joy in life is to tear kids down, that brings our community down. Take that to the Shadchan.

  • Pro-Darchai

    Too E & A,

I don’t know who you are, but you sound like a real ChaBaDnik – Chamor Bli Daas. Maybe you did learn a lot of Gemara, but it sounds like for all the blatt you studied, you are out of touch with the reality of the chinuch situation in Lubavitch. Schools like Darchai Menachem are the solution. The problem schools are places like Oholei Torah, where people like you are churned out…rude schmucks (who can rarely learn Gemara). I feel bad for your children and your shidduch. They are stuck with a man who thinks the be all and end all is to sit in a so-called “mainstream” classroom, even though most children their are being taight material that goes way over their heads.

Finally, at least your friends in Lakewood who could learn would keep their noses out of other people’s business and their mouths shut. To be quite frank with you, this community does not need people like yourself; it requires, mature, caring, and thinking individuals, like the dedicated staff of Darchai Menachem.

    End of rant.

these pics should be sent to the company with a letter about the school and how the CLICS were used to help students learn…

  • to embarrassed

You have alot to be embarrased about. It’s always easy to see from the comments who has never amounted to much in life: Simply see who always criticizes someone who does something.

With all the comments on every website I have seen a great deal of idiotic posts, but I must congratulate you my friend, yours takes the cake.

Get a life you wont be embarrased — it feels got not to be sitting in your PJs infront of a computer at noon
