CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Transfer orders for Captain Mark DiPaolo, Executive officer for the 71st Precinct, came in this past Friday, October 30th. The XO was promoted and given his own precinct, the 84th which is located in Downtown Brooklyn near the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges.

Captain DiPaolo has served in the 71st Precinct for over 2 and a half years, arriving in March of 2006, under the command of CO Vega, and CO Simonetti and has been on the force for over 18 years.

Gadi Hershkop, one of Crown Heights Shomrim’s coordinators said, “We are sorry to see him go, but we are happy to see him promoted”, adding that he was a true friend of the community in understanding the dynamics and walking that fine line without ever upsetting anyone. Gadi Hershkop the added, “also being a loyal friend to Shomrim, making sure to stop when he saw members and encourage them.”

In a conversation with CrownHeights.info Captain DiPaolo said “I will miss it, Crown Heights has meant a lot to me” adding that “I have made many friendships there.”

Historically the 71st had always had two XO’s and with Captain DiPaolo’s departure the precinct is left with just one XO, Captain Jose Frias who has made instant fit with the community from the day he arrived.

CrownHeights.info would like to wish Captain DiPaolo “Hatzlacha Rabba” [much success] in his new position!
