An arrest has been made in connection with an antisemitic assault on a Jewish bochur in Crown Heights, following a collaborative investigation involving the NYPD and Crown Heights Shomrim.

According to Crown Heights Shomrim, the incident occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. on September 28 near the Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue subway station. The bochur was allegedly harassed with antisemitic slurs and threats while at the station.

The suspect reportedly followed the bochur after he left the station and assaulted him near Schenectady Avenue and Park Place.

Following the incident, Crown Heights Shomrim worked with the NYPD’s 77th Precinct, Transit District 32 and the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force to identify and locate the suspect.

The suspect was arrested Monday, according to Shomrim.

The NYPD’s 77th Precinct serves the northern portion of Crown Heights, while Transit District 32 is responsible for subway policing in the area.

The arrest comes amid heightened attention to antisemitic incidents targeting visibly Jewish residents in Crown Heights. In a separate incident last month, a Bronx man was arrested after allegedly threatening and chasing a Jewish man while shouting antisemitic statements, with the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force investigating that case as well.

Crown Heights Shomrim thanked the NYPD personnel and investigators involved, highlighting the cooperation between the community-based safety organization and law enforcement in bringing the investigation to a conclusion.
