Two People Shot Minutes Apart Along West Indian Day Parade Route, One On Eastern Parkway and Kingston Ave

There were two separate shootings along the J’Ouvert and West Indian American Day Carnival route on Labor Day, according to police.

Police received a 911 call at 4:02 p.m. for a reported shooting on Nostrand Avenue. Officials said one man was shot and was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Officers said a firearm was recovered at the scene and one person was taken into custody.

Five minutes later at 4:07 p.m., another call came in from Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue for a report of a woman shot.

    This year they thought to shut the parade down by 5 pm, because last year all the shootings happened after 5 pm. So now that the shootins happened after 4 pm, next year they will shut it down after 4 pm, and eventually they will come to their senses and shut it down before it starts.
