Antisemitic Threat Leads to Arrest in Crown Heights

A man was arrested early Shabbos morning after allegedly directing antisemitic threats at a Jewish man on Kingston Ave, according to the NYPD.

Police from the 71st Precinct responded at approximately 12:05am to the vicinity of 451 Kingston Avenue following a 911 call reporting a possible bias incident.

According to the NYPD, the victim, who was dressed in “traditional Jewish attire”, told officers that he had been walking when he was approached by a man accompanied by a dog. The suspect allegedly told him, “You dirty Jews, your kids are always blocking the street. Next time I see them I will kill them.”

The victim told police that he felt threatened by the interaction, prompting a third party witness to call 911.

Officers quickly identified and arrested the suspect at the scene. He has been charged with Aggravated Harassment as a Hate Crime and Menacing as a Hate Crime.

The incident is being investigated as a bias-motivated crime. The NYPD says hate crimes are investigated by its Hate Crime Task Force, with bias motivation considered when an offense is motivated in whole or substantial part by a victim’s religion, ethnicity, or other protected identity.
