Sarasota Man Arrested After Chabad House Window Smashed in Alleged Hate Crime
A Florida man is accused of shattering a synagogue window with a brick, then telling police he targeted the building because it is a Jewish place of worship.
The Sarasota Police Department arrested 30-year-old Brayton Laschinger after investigators say he broke the front window of Chabad of Downtown SRQ on Cocoanut Avenue around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
According to police, surveillance video shows Laschinger wearing a blue towel over his head and face before throwing a brick through the building’s front window.
