Arrest Made After 5-Year-Old Boy Attacked In Crown Heights Earlier This Month

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shocking and unprovoked attack on a 5-year-old boy in Crown Heights earlier this month. The arrest was made in large part due to the swift actions of Crown Heights Shomrim and coordinated police work.
The disturbing incident occurred on March 6th, when the young child was assaulted without warning on a Crown Heights street.
In the immediate aftermath, Crown Heights Shomrim obtained and reviewed surveillance footage captured during the attack. The video clearly showed the suspect and provided crucial details about his movements immediately following the incident.
Shomrim volunteers quickly tracked the individual as he fled the scene, ultimately identifying that he had boarded a nearby train. This key development was relayed to detectives from the NYPD’s 71st Precinct, who launched a focused investigation.
Working off the evidence and leads provided, NYPD detectives were able to positively identify the suspect. Earlier this week, authorities successfully located and took the individual into custody.
The arrest underscores the critical role played by Shomrim, a volunteer neighborhood patrol organization that works closely with law enforcement to respond to and help solve crimes in the community.
