Man Who Stabbed Bochur In Crown Heights Sentenced To 5 Years In Jail

Vincent Sumpter, a man who stabbed a bochur on Kingston Ave in August of last year plead guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced on October 8th, to five years in prison.

As previously reported on CrownHeights.info,  Yechiel Michael Dabrowskin, a bochur who came to Crown Heights to learn in 770, had just left an event at Mendy’s on Kingston Ave near Eastern Parkway with friends when the incident took place around 2:00am Friday night. The perpetrator, a Black male in his early 20’s later identified as VIncent Sumpter, shouted “Free Palestine” and, after an exchange of words with the victim, allegedly asked, “Do you want to die?” before stabbing him.

Yechiel was transported to Maimonides Medical Center by Hatzalah and made a full recovery.

Sumpter was arrested and later charged with a hate crime.
