Another Scooter Robbery Arrest In Crown Heights As Teen Crew Terrorizes Local Children

by CrownHeights.info

Crown Height Shomrim notified the community of another knifepoint scooter robbery that took place in Lefferts Park Sunday, and the quick work which led to the thief’s arrest.

“At approximately 5:20 p.m., Shomrim received multiple calls about a scooter robbery at knifepoint,” Shomrim wrote. “Our volunteers responded immediately, apprehended the two perpetrators on scene, recovered the stolen scooter, and secured the knife.”

Frustratingly, only one of the two was arrested, as being minors, the police were only able to arrest the one who was visibly identified, the one who brandished the knife.

This arrest comes just days after Shomrim helped apprehend another knifepoint robber, another member of the team team, minutes after they held up a community resident and stole his electric scooter.

Last Tuesday Shomrim responded to call for a teen duo on a crime spree in Crown Heights whom had pulled off a knifepoint robbery in broad daylight. According to a report released by Crown Heights Shomrim, the duo first struck in Crown Heights at around 12:00 p.m. on Eastern Parkway, where the two young criminals robbed someone at knifepoint, stealing his electric scooter. About 30 minutes later, the same crew struck again on Albany Avenue, robbing another victim of his scooter.

After an intense search, Shomrim identified one of the robbers, and a passing NYPD officer was able to make an arrest.

While unconfirmed, the incidents from today and last week are believed to be related, as the second teen involved in both cases appear to be the same individual.

“It’s frustrating,” a Crown Heights resident said to CrownHeights.info. “The police know who these kids are but we are left to wonder if its safe to send our kids to the local parks.”

According to a person involved in the incidents, the local 71st Precinct knows the identity of the second perpetrator, but has their hands tied as the case is being worked by a different NYPD command. That command, despite knowing all that they need to, has yet to take action.

“This kid needs to be put away,” the resident stressed. “He is a dangerous, dangerous child.”
