Duo on Crime Spree Targets Crown Heights, One Arrested In Knifepoint Robbery
by CrownHeights.info
A teen duo on a crime spree in Crown Heights pulled off a knifepoint robbery in broad daylight Tuesday, but only one of the two managed to get away thanks to Shomrim and the NYPD.
According to a report released by Crown Heights Shomrim, the duo first struck in Crown Heights at around 12:00 p.m. on Eastern Parkway, where the two young criminals robbed someone at knifepoint, stealing his electric scooter. About 30 minutes later, the same crew struck again on Albany Avenue, robbing another victim of his scooter.
The second victim, despite having his scooter stolen, gave chase to the criminals, calling Shomrim as he tracked the pair. Volunteers quickly swarmed the area as a passing NYPD car noticed the ruckus and stopped to help.
An alert Shomrim volunteer searching for the gang found one of the duo, who happened to have been the one who brandished the knife in the robbery, as he attempted to disappear into an abandoned parking lot, and gave chase as the teen ran through back yards.
For the perpetrator, it just wasn’t to be, and he was quickly caught and placed in handcuffs.
“Thanks to the swift response of Shomrim volunteers and the outstanding work by @NYPD71Pct, the suspect who brandished the knife was quickly apprehended, and the weapon recovered,” Shomrim wrote on social media. The second perpetrator, who is in possession of a stolen scooter, is still at large.
