Package Thief Finds Quick Justice After Being Tracked Down in Crown Heights

It took just a short while, but this Crown Heights package thief discovered that he hadn’t gotten away free.

According to reports, the thief had made an early morning heist of an expensive electronic from the front porch of a Crown Heights home. The man made it off the porch, but not without having his face and clothing clearly photographed by the home’s surveillance system.

A call to Crown Heights Shomrim ended with volunteers rolling on the streets looking for the thief, and the victim stepping out of his home on his way to the NYPD’s 71st Precinct to file a report. He never made it.

Just after leaving his home, the alert victim found himself looking at the thief, still wearing the same clothing and unaware that a search was on to find him. Taking the initiative, the victim immediately reached out to Shomrim and 911, and within a few short minutes both were on the scene and the thief was in handcuffs.
