Police Shoot and Kill Gun Touting Man Outside Jewish Home In Remsen Village

Police officers investigating reports of a man shooting a gun in the area of Remsen Village Monday, shot and killed a 20-year-old man as he was chasing down a couple and shooting at them.

Initial reports indicate that the officers were on the lookout for a suspect shooting around 5:50pm when they came across the a couple fleeing a man who was actively shooting at them with a firearm. The officers quickly took action and shot the man outside a Jewish home on Remsen Ave near East 57th Street.

The moments leading up to the shooting, and the shooting itself, was caught on the doorbell camera of the Jewish home.

The action packed 40 seconds of footage shows the couple as they run from the armed man, with gunshots sounding in the background. As the couple leaves the frame an unmarked police car can be seen screeching to a halt and the shooter running into frame before a flurry of gunshots and the shooter falls.

The shooter, now shot by police, was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A gun was recovered at the scene.

Another man in his 60’s was also found in the area suffering from two gunshot wounds.
