A recidivist car thief is in the slammer again Tuesday after a shocked Crown Heightser discovered the thief with his hands full with loot from his vehicle and called Shomrim.

The incident took place in Crown Heights Tuesday afternoon near Buch O’ Bagels in the area of Carroll Street and Troy Ave. The shocked resident had left a local store to find the thief riffling through his car and confronted him.

n his haste to get away, the thief dropped a large bag of Tzedaka coins that he had just stolen as well as a large amount of cash and a cell phone. He then attempted to flee down Troy Ave, but quickly was found by the responding Shomrim volunteers who kept the thief in front of the Troy Ave cleaners until the police arrived.

The recidivist thief, who was already well known to the responding officers, was placed in cuffs and taken to the 71st Precinct.

“Recidivist car thief apprehended yet again thanks to a fast response and collaboration by our volunteers and @NYPD71PCT officers,” Crown Heights Shomrim wrote on social media. “Multiple stolen items recovered.”
