Man Damages Crown Heights Store and Steals Electric Scooter, Discovers that Crown Heights Shomrim Responds Fast
by CrownHeights.info
At 5:52am Monday morning, a Crown Heights resident recognized a crime in progress at Prime Ave on Kingston. A man had damaged the store and stolen an electric scooter chained up there. So he called Crown Heights Shomrim and they responded.
A source told CrownHeights.info that the man had initially attempted to remove the electric scooter from where it was chained to a handle installed on the doors of Prime Ave. Failing that, he simply decided to rip the handle off the door entirely so he could make off with his ill gotten loot.
Fleeing up Kingston Ave, he was unaware that Crown Heights Shomrim had been called, and within a short time he had a new tail who was giving real time updates to the responding police officers on his location.
The thief made it as far as the subway station at Kingston Ave and Eastern Parkway before the officers of the NYPD caught up with him. Soon after he was scuffling with the police as they put him in cuffs and took him to the 71st Precinct under arrest.
Shomrim’s job was not yet complete though, as they tracked down both the owner of Prime Ave and the Scooter so the police could file official reports and seal case. This thief seriously miscalculated.
