Shomrim Catches Another Thief As He Breaks Into Crown Heights Home

by CrownHeights.info

Crown Heights Shomrim continued its record apprehension of thieves this month with the arrest of another thief caught while breaking into a home.

According to reports, Shomrim received a tip regarding a man breaking into a home on Carroll Street Friday morning and arrived to find the man still on the property.

“Our Volunteers responded to a hotline tip regarding a burglary in progress,” Shomrim Tweeted. “Thanks to a fast response we set up a perimeter and were able to keep a constant visual on the perpetrator for @NYPD71Pct whom arrived quickly to place him under arrest. #SaferStreets #EyesAndEars”.

This bust follows a series of arrests that have significantly reduced the number of package thieves actively working in the community.

On July 1st, Shomrim caught up with a notorious thief who had been plaguing the Crown Heights community, tracking and ultimately having him apprehended in the area of Utica Ave.

This arrest was soon followed by another on July 6th, where a man was caught and arrested after stealing items from a Crown Heights building.

June also saw some significant catches, including when Shomrim managed to catch a female package thief who had been targeting Crown Heights apartment buildings for months, clearing out thousands in stolen items from local families.

Problem is, before the paperwork is completed, he’s back on the streets.

Last week I saw someone riding a bike on Carroll St. trying every car on the block. BH they were all locked. I wanted to call Shomrim but as a guest in CH I didn’t have the number. When I came to Kingston Ave I saw a parked Shomrim car. I walked around the car looking for a phone number but there was none. I’ve since seen many Shmira and Shomrim cars but none of them have phone numbers on them.

Why didn’t you take a video of the potential thief? This is the problem: we need to act at the time. If you can’t reach Shomrim (why aren’t they in your contacts??) at least get a clear picture so they can follow up with the police.

      I give up.

BH for Shomrim. But if the police are visible and the courts do their job – meaning BOTH protect decent citizens – Shomrim would be out of business. Why hasn’t Adams rescinded de Blasio’s “revolving door” policy?

Answer: Because the criminals are mainly members of HIS community! He’s just another biased politician.
