ADL Announces $5,000 Reward For Information Leading To Arrest In Friday Attack

The Anti-Defamation League, ADL, has announced that it is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for the assault on a bochur in Crown Heights Friday afternoon.

As previously reports on CrownHeights.info, the disgusting incident went down on President Street between Utica Avenue and Schenectady Avenue around 3:00pm when the victim passed a man walking on the sidewalk.

Despite not having made any contact, the perpetrator became affronted and turned on his victim.

According to the NYPD, the attacker asked the victim “what are you looking at?” before punching him in the head and face. The attacker was also quoted as having said “the Nazis should have killed you Jews” before fleeing the scene.

Crown Heights Shomrim and the Police were called, and Hatzalah transported the victim to Cobble Hill Hospital in Brooklyn.

The reward offered by the ADL comes after the NYPD released video footage of the alleged attacker and offered their own reward of up to $3,500 for information leading to the arrest.

The ADL’s reward was also offered in another anti-Semitic attack in Brooklyn, where a father walking his children to shul was approached from behind by a suspect who hit him in the head and throwing off his shtreimel.

“We are outraged to learn of multiple assaults of visibly Orthodox Jews,” said Scott Richman, ADL NY/NJ Regional Director. “It is terrorizing communities, and all must speak out. Nobody should be afraid to display their religion in public. Both attacks took place in broad daylight, and we hope that witnesses will come forward with information. To encourage this, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible.”

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.

The erev Shabbos afternoon attack was not on a “bochur” as you state. (There was a separate attack on a bochur early last Friday morning, on Sterling Place, if I recall right.)

But in the Jew-hating attack on President Street, the perp attacked a husband and father in his 30s (not a bochur).

So sad that there are now so many such attacks! It is hard to keep them all straight, r”l!
