A cleaning lady sweeping a set of steps in Crown Heights made a startling discovery Erev Shabbos when she uncovered a gun.

The cleaning lady had been cleaning a set of steps leading into a basement in the area of Albany Ave and Crown Street when she came across a revolver laying on the ground.

Unsure of what to do, Crown Heights Shomrim was called, and they secured the firearm until the police arrived.

Speculation on how the firearm got there is that it belonged to a person who fled from a crash that took place a week ago in the area. During that incident two occupants of a car fired at police officers in the 77th Precinct before fleeing into Crown Heights. The pair wrecked their car at the corner of Crown Street and Albany Ave before crawling out of their vehicle and fleeing on foot.

One of the occupants was arrested with a firearm, while the second was apprehended, but no firearm found.
