Why We Need Shomrim, Sometimes the NYPD is Simply Not There

by CrownHeights.info

It’s sobering sometimes when you think of what could have happened but thankfully didn’t.

This past Friday, Crown Heights Shomrim received a call for a man knocking on doors while holding a for sale sign and a knife.

Five Shomrim volunteers left their families and businesses to respond, watching as the man continued knocking on doors.

Fearing that this man was a danger, 911 was called…..and no one showed up.

As the man continued knocking on doors, he was confronted for his actions, and claimed to just be “Looking for a friend.”

Forty-five minutes and two more 911 calls still had no response from the NYPD, and the man, now aware that he was being followed, walked all the way to Rutland Rd and Nostrand Ave before the Shomrim volunteers felt that he had left the neighborhood.

The reason for the lack of NYPD response is not clear, but thankfully Crown Heights has Shomrim, and they did respond.

This guy stopped me several times in the past, as well as this past Friday

He always ask are you married? Etc
Then follows for a few seconds before walking away
I believe he lives in the half house on maple and Kingston Brooklyn.
Reach out to me if needed. Ch.info has my info

  • You know who

I called police twice in the past few months and both times I got the same dispatcher. An angry black lady. If the crime at hand has anything to do with a black person she never sends out a unit. Such a corrupt system. Fire that dispatcher!
