Woman Shot After Being Caught in Crossfire
A 56-year-old woman was shot on Nostrand Avenue after an argument nearby descended into violence.
The incident occurred at 7:25pm on Nostrand Avenue near Crown Street. Police sources said that gunshots rang out following a dispute between unknown individuals. The victim, a 56-year-old woman, was walking on the other side of the street and was struck once in the rear.
She immediately fled into a nearby nail salon and called for help.
The victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was taken to an area hospital. Her injuries are not being considered life threatening.
Police cordoned off the crime scene and detectives went to work, searching for surveillance video and speaking to witnesses. Six bullet casings were seen littering the sidewalk in front a bodega where the gunman was presumably standing.
