Two Men Assaulted in Separate Attempted Muggings
On Motzai Shabbos two Jewish men were assaulted in separate incidents where the assailent attempted to rob the victims. One of the victims was rushed by Hatzalah to a hospital.
The incidents occurred Saturday night, February 21st, at around 7:30pm. The first assault occurred on New York Avenue and Carroll Street, the victim was approached by a black man in dark clothing who demanded his money.
When the victim said he did not have any the assailant forcefully rummaged through his pockets, discovering that he indeed did not have any valuables on him. The assailant then punched the man in his face, causing injuries around his eye, and fled.
The assailant then continued up to Eastern Parkway where he encountered another Jewish man and demanded his money as well. This victim too did not have any on him and the assailant again rummaged through his pockets. After discovering he too did not have money on him he punched him in the face injuring his eye.
Hatzalah was called for the victim, who was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated for injuries to his eye.
Police received reports about both incidents and police sources told CrownHeights.info that detectives were assigned to the case and were looking into surveillance video in the area in hopes of identifying the assailant.
