9-Year-Old Arrested for Trying to Steal a Bike

Shomrim apprehended a nine-year-old boy inside the yard of a Jewish owned home where the juvenile, along with a friend who managed to get away, attempted to steal a bicycle.

Shomrim received the call through their hotline notifying them of the robbery in progress; volunteers who were around the area sprung into action and managed to apprehend one of the two would-be pint sized thieves.

Police arrived on the scene just moments after receiving the call from Shomrim, and placed the boy under arrest after he admitted that he intended to steal a bike from the yard.

“The boy will be charged as a juvenile offender, and a case worker will be put on his case” said one of the officers at the scene, adding that its a shame to see kids so young already committing crimes.

Do we even have to state the obvious comparisons in age of this young criminal to the Hy”D? Our 9 year olds are coming home from camp they are out stealing bikes. R’L

It would be nice if you guys were able to spell a little….

    “attempted to steak a bicycle.”

“ after he admired that he intended to steal”

“The boy will by charged as a juvenile”

  • Hmm...

They wanted to STEAK a bike? now…..just how does one go about STEAKING a bike?

MAYBE it will teach him a lessone.
ALSO: they should check into his home life. Maybe there is something else going on there which needs to be addressed with a Social Worker. Thats how these kids will get their needs addressed and hopefully G-d willing, optimize their chances of having a productive life, which also means staying away from crime.

The kid is just a nine-year old. Why publicize photos of him? Doing so would only compromise his future and expose him to unnecessary ridicule and embarrassment.

Why is there so much crime in crimeheights oops crownheights? Police eating donuts or fixing parking tickets for friends maybe?

to #12, they all look the same, no-one can tell the difference.

As for his parents, if they or he knows who they are, typical story.

    We live in a jungle.

This is Tampa Court – the back of the house faces Brooklyn Avenue. We live across the street, on Brooklyn Ave. proper.

  • seriously?

you are all so cruel. yes stealing is wrong but isn’t there a better way to teach this kid like community service to yidden instead of jail? you are forever ruining his future.

and how do you know why he stole? yes its wrong, but you dont know what kind of a life he has had to endure? maybe the first step in “community building” is being a little more open minded. once you slap a rap sheet on a kid like that, you’ve lost him forever.

  • To Jean #12

You are worried that he might be embarrassed? i think that would be the least of his problems.

  • Uncle Mendel

How DARE you profile Racially? Maybe the photographer retouched the photos to make the kid just LOOK black!
I would demand the kid stay in jail until his father comes forward and claims him. That should slow things down a bit.
and… Thanks for Shopping ARLANS !!!

We have child molesters, ganavim, murderers & terrorists in our own community & you liberal fools are worried about the future of some snot-nosed thieving brat who is a career criminal from birth???

No wonder we have the tsar we have. You people are dangerous. Now go count your kids & make sure you haven’t left one somewhere while you were busy making inter-community picnics.

just another day in the urban setting of opportunities. Now that the youngster is in the system, it won’t take long until he gets hardened.

Who says that the 9 year old was stealing?
What proof is there, other then this vigilante group saying so?
Why didn’t the owners call 911, like everyone else does?
Do they exist by a different set of rules, other than the
ones that every other person does living in NYC?
Why was the 9 year old, detained, pinned to the ground,
    his picture published?
No one can arrest a 9 year old child for supposedly stealing
a bicycle or anything else in NYC?
Why weren’t the people who restrained the 9 year old,
pinned him to the ground, arrested?
They would have been in any other case.
    What makes this different?
This vigilante group are not the Police and they have
to operate under the same rules as everyone else.
    This is America.

Mr. Torres you are and anti-Semetic troll, your words are dripping with seething anti-Jew venom, and it’s disgusting. I dont know why the CHI moderators decided to allow it, but allow me to respond.

Read the article and see how it says that the little criminal admitted to his intentions of stealing a bike to the police officers and only then was he placed under arrest.

Who one chooses to call once they become crime victims is of no concern to you, and how the police deal with the so called ‘vigilante patrol’ I’d frankly none of your business, unless you hate Jews so much that Jews even existing poses a problem for you.

I have an idea, why don’t you crawl under a rock and keep your seething hate to yourself. Make the world a better place by not cyber littering.

Some answers to Mr. Torres’ questions:

“Who says that the 9 year old was stealing?”
    Eyewitnesses.

“What proof is there, other then this vigilante group saying so?”
Eyewitnesses aren’t enough? What better proof do you want?

“Why didn’t the owners call 911, like everyone else does?”
Because, by the time the cops would show up, the perp and the property would be gone. Losing game, you see.

“Do they exist by a different set of rules, other than the
ones that every other person does living in NYC?”
    Nope. Same rules.

“Why was the 9 year old, detained, pinned to the ground,
    his picture published?”
    Because he is a criminal.

“No one can arrest a 9 year old child for supposedly stealing
a bicycle or anything else in NYC?”
Was that a question? Yes, you can arrest a nine year old for ‘supposedly’ stealing a bicycle in NYC.

“Why weren’t the people who restrained the 9 year old,
pinned him to the ground, arrested?”
    Because they did nothing wrong.

“They would have been in any other case.”
    False.

“This vigilante group are not the Police and they have
to operate under the same rules as everyone else.”
    True.

    “This is America.”
    Also true.
