Jewish Girl Mugged for Her Cellphone

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A girl was mugged yesterday afternoon by one or three assailants who made off with her cellphone.

The incident took place at around 3:30pm Wednesday on Albany Avenue near President Street; the girl was walking and using her cell phone when a young black male snatched the phone from her and fled.

A couple witnessed the incident and immediately called Shomrim and Police. A search of the area did not turn up the mugger.

The victim was not physically hurt, but according to her mother she is still shaken up emotionally.

    It’s usually same pattern:
    Young girl/miss or a boy/bochur who gets attacked. Because they are less likely to retaliate. People need to be more aware of the surrounding while on phone. If, chasve shalom you are attacked, try to make a scene, and discreetly follow the mugger or ask someone to join you, when you see people who can apprehend him(police, Shomrim), alert them to him!

    B’H my daughter was not hurt and she was paying attention. She noticed this 14-15yo black boy walking behind and was sorta aware. She was not texting or talking just holding her phone and walking home.

    I am more emotionally upset the she was (thats a mom for ya). again BH shes ok.

    A police report was filed etc.

    may i suggest:
    spreading ur valuables and not keeping it all in one bag or pocket. if Chas v’shalom, someone mugs you of one thing, at least you’ll have ur other valuables protected

    it crazy last week there was a mugging on the corner of crown brooklyn at 3 pm when 2 shvartses mugged a lubavitcher woman whilst pushing her baby…

    One guy grabbed it from her, but she believes there may have been two guys together with him. It all happened very quickly.
