Crown Heights Baker Shot Dead Outside His Home
The 68-year-old owner of a Brooklyn bakery was shot dead outside his Crown Heights home Tuesday night.
Mervyn Johnson was confronted at 8:30 p.m. at Brooklyn and Lefferts Avenues, and shot in the head, just feet from his Brooklyn home. Police said it’s possible the murder is connected to a recent robbery attempt.
According to Police, Johnson left his business, Merv’s Bakery, on Nostrand Avenue, a short time earlier when he was confronted by his attacker.
The only witness, a police source said, was someone who heard the gunshot and raced to Johnson’s side after the gunman fled.
Police said the murder could be connected to a previous robbery attempt on Johnson that happened earlier this month.
It was not immediately clear if that suspect made off with any money.

Maybe we can have a fence around our neighborhood with armed patrols- that is the only way, as the ‘standard’ way ‘aint’ doing much.

Only if you carry a lot of money regularly will they allow you to protect yourself. The victim was not Jewish , but why does it matter. He was a human being , a hard working neighbor of ours.
Our community are not the only victims of senseless violence.The african american community are victims too.
As residents of crown heights, we should reach out to the family of the victim to offer our condolences and offer to help and support them with anything they need during this difficult time.
The bottom line is : I hope the animal who shot Mr. Johnson is swiftly caught by the police and brought to justice.
