CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A Jewish man was attacked this evening by a group of 5 black young thugs. The incident took place on Carroll Street between Kingston and Albany Avenue at around 8:45pm.
The incident took place as the Jew passed the group which began kicking him and trying to provoke him into an altercation, instead he just pulled out his phone and called 911. It took police a little while to respond, by which time the group managed to make it to New York Avenue and Carroll Street where they were stopped.
At first the officers refused to arrest the group saying it was only harassment and not assault, to which the Jew replied “what? If I kicked you I couldn’t be arrested?” one of the officers went as far as criticizing and lecturing the victim as if it was him who was wrong.
Things changed for the better once a higher ranking police officer arrived on scene. Lt. John Carter re-interviewed the victim and after hearing his story was satisfied that this incident was enough to be investigated by a detective, and had the group of 2 boys and 3 girls all aged 14-15, brought into the stationhouse.
At this time, 10:09pm, it is still unknown if any of the group was charged or arrested, and they are still being held in at the precinct.

When a cop refuses to enforce the law, don’t bother to argue, get his/her name and badge number and make a complaint. Even if the complaint is dismissed, it goes on their record forever, and may help establish a pattern over the course of their sordid careers.

Respected seasoned officers warn that younger inexperienced officers are “out of control”, and “heading for trouble”.
These younger officers are often put in neighborhoods like CH to be “broken in” before “permanent assignments”. They are charged not to “write paper” that cannot be “wrapped up” Thus, if you are assaulted by teenagers, it’s your problem.
Gee I wonder what happens if five teenagers assault, sorry harass a cop or a member of his family, I wonder if they’d get a lecture from some suburban snot nosed rookie.

Yes I am sorry for the horrible way a person was brutally attacked, but this is a website claiming to be representative of Crown Heights…a neighborhood that is home to people of many races and beliefs.
Although I am a Caucasian female, I find it offensive that this website would choose to write “5 young black thugs” and “The Jew”. Please do not reduce people, however disturbing and wrong the circumstances in which you are referring to them, to such a narrow scope. You have reduced the young men to a stereotypical image. While yes,the attacked was actually Jewish, why not refer to him as the victim or a man. Have we not come farther then this as a society?
I am deeply saddened by the act of violence committed upon that man and simultaneously saddened for the young men who felt that this was necessary.
Needless to say, although I am a caring resident of Crown Heights and love to know what’s going on, I will not be reading this website ever again. Perhaps someone should do some “soul searching” and think with more empathy about what is put on the internet representing all of us here in Crown Heights…Especially if it’s loosely affiliated with a religion.

Thank G-d the victim’s complaint was eventually taken somewhat seriously; the exception rather than the rule!
The last time a Yid I know had the audacity (!) to peacefully and innocently write down a refusing-to-enforce-the-law cop’s badge # and name (in order to later make a complaint), the Yid found himself in handcuffs in the back of a police car, being brought to the 71st precinct on fabricated charges of ”disorderly conduct“. When the precinct released this Yid about an hour later, the Yid’s pad of paper was missing the sheet with the names and badge numbers.

But has the 71st changed its modus operandi? Apparently not, as the ch.info article above states:

Rumor has it that, in the summer, when a Yid calls the 71st about a non-Yid, the unofficial policy is that the 71st has to find a way to either minimize the incident (generating no paper), or (if they must arrest the non-Yid) to arrest BOTH the Yid and the non-Yid, due to fear of non-Yid violence, if you know what I mean.

FYI, there has NEVER been a pattern of incidents like this, occuring on an almost daily basis here in Crown Heights, in which the races are reversed! If there were, Al Sharpton and his shills would be closing down Eastern Parkway in a march of outrage, covered by all of the major networks.
But this kind of incident, in which the Jew is the victim, and the assailants are African American non-Jews, was reported as such for good reason. Dear Ms. Patterson
First know that this website although a news source for the CH community, is essentially a blog, and what goes in it and how is up to the webmaster who puts a great deal of effort into it, but in the end it’s his view. Perhaps you would like to start your own blog about the community, it’s a free country as they say.
The real point is that however sad it is to read a story like this one, and however offensive you may find it to have the facts reported this way, it is the way it is, it is pertinent to the story, it’s exactly what any news source would do. More to the point it is an almost daily or weekly story, with the perpetrators alway being African American (almost always underage), and the victims always being Jewish.
The one ocurence that anyone can remember that was the exception to this rule (the victim a black teenager and the perp(s) Jewish), last year resulted in a man hunt that had doors kicked in, and was front page news.
What should sadden you is that there is no other neighborhood in the entire city where this kind of violence happens with the same frequency in exactly the same pattern with no response from police. Sadder still is that the residents of CH both African American and Jewsih have come to accept this as normal, with a “what are you going to do” shrug of the shoulder.
It is not normal or acceptable. If this happened twice in any other neighborhood, there would be a task force on it.
The mayor, the commisioner, and every cop in CH should be made to answer why they can’t seem to stop the violent thuggish sometimes deadly acts of crime in one neighborhood in Brooklyn.
Ms Patterson, I charge you, if you want to be a member of the CH community worth listening to, march on the 71st Pct and ask them what they are doing to keep the community safe, go to the CB meetings and get up and yell at the CB for not getting the job done, but please don’t criticize one man’s reporting of just the latest of an unending series of violent attacks upon one group by another.

I live on Carroll between Kingston and Albany. My son was coming home from the store just at that time and said that several girls shouted profanities at him. I went outside to look for the group but they had moved on toward Brooklyn Ave. This was probably the same group of kids….

landlords play a big role in the crime problem in crown heights they rent to people who are in some type of programs, so the landlord can continue to not be held accountable, many crown heights residents in the jewish community hold these landlords in high regaurd, because they throw trinkets to the community certain times of the year, issues like these will always continue in crown heights until the culture that exists within the community at large is taken to task by their own, or watch as gentrifacation continues to spred regarless of the recession, the change continues to spred from northeren crown heights to southeren crown heights, tenament landlords in the hasidic community won’t beable to continue the destablizing of crown heights forever, they have already put their at risk, to continue profit as real eastate merchants.
