CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [WABC] — Police say an off-duty Sanitation worker was fatally shot in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn Wednesday morning.

32-year-old Edward Hunt was shot in the chest outside 857 Lincoln Place at around 5:30 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [WABC] — Police say an off-duty Sanitation worker was fatally shot in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn Wednesday morning.

32-year-old Edward Hunt was shot in the chest outside 857 Lincoln Place at around 5:30 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.


Police recovered two rounds at the scene.

Witnesses told police a suspect was running from the scene. He was described as wearing blue jeans and white sneakers.

The victim, an off-duty Sanitation worker, lived on the block.

Hunt was assigned to Manhattan District 6 garage. He was appointed on July 10, 2000.

He worked the 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift yesterday and was scheduled to be back in at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

    I think this happened on the block just 1 block past the back of Oholei Torah, meaning that this horrific event was on Lincoln Place, between New York and Nostrand Avenues.

    If I’m not mistaken, once you cross Eastern Parkway (even directly across from 770), you’re not in the 71st Precinct anymore. It’s a new territory.

    Not that the 71st is doing any better of a job than any other precinct of course . . . .
