Congregation Khal Anash Shul Ransacked

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] –- Congregation Khal Anash Shul on Carroll and Schenectady was ransacked earlier today, Wednesday. The incident was discovered at around 5:30pm with Talis Bags lay strewn on the floor alongside a few Seforim and the Poroches pulled from the Aron Kodesh.

Police were called and responded to the scene, a short investigation revealed that there was no forced entry, and that the perpetrator had intimate knowledge of the Shul, only cutting one of the two pad locks of the Pushka.

The intruder wasn’t very bright, even with all his knowledge of the Shul, after cutting the lock it appeared that he did not know how to remove the front over of the charity box, leaving the money inside, and making the Shul appear as if it were ransacked.

From the investigation the incident was not deemed a bias crime and a police report has been filed.

B”H, no serious damage done. Maybe an alarm system linked to the 71 is in order for every shul.

the reason they didn’t call it a bias crime is because they understand, unfortunately, that it’s one of our own. Sounds like someone has a drug habit or is otherwise desperate for cash.

Isn’t the shul called kahal chassidm anshei levov? Is this some revisionist attempt to eradicate the non-Lubavitch history of CH?

  • ghjk

concerned: Maybe so, but is this the time to bring this up? There’s a time and place for everything, but not now when the shul has just been broken into.

asdf: The official name of the shul, going as far back as I can remember (and I’ve been living here over a quarter of a century) is “Khal Chassidim”; the unofficial name is “Baumgarten’s Shul,” after Rabbi S.Z. Baumgarten, the long-time rav of the shul. A couple of years back they made that more official, with the big “Beis Shneur Zalman” lettering on the front, and they also added the little plaque that says “Congregation Khal Anash Lubaw.” (Lubaw. = Lubavitch, not Lvov.)

So don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions and conspiracy theories.

If you notice the kuppas rabbenu pushka in that shul your question about the round menorah should be answered. They are both against the rebbe zy”a wishes

  • New Shul

I never heard of this Shul. On that corner there are Rayyim Ahuvim and Kahal Chassidim. Is this a Third Shul? Or one of the Shul’s was renamed?

  • To Mr. Concerned

please before you spout your ignorance, please know what you are writing
The rebbe brings proof that the Menorah in the Beis HaMikdash was Not round but rather the way the rambam describes it.

    B’H
    Sorry to hear.
Honors and praise to Avraham Taurog for being instrumental in installing the new pushka system in Khal Chassidim, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Gurari, Baumgarten’s Shul.
These are, approximately all the names it’s called by.
