Six Cars Vandalized Friday Night

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] -– Shabbos morning the residents of Brooklyn Avenue between East New York and Maple awoke to find their cars vandalized the paint and glass scratched with some kind of tool.

Six cars in total were vandalized, all of them belonging to Jewish residents, and all of them were high end cars including BMW’s and Cadillac’s.

More pictures in the Extended Article.

Once Shabbos ended the residents called police who responded and took reports for the damage, the bias crimes unit was notified since all the cars were owned by Jews. One pattern that seemed to appear was that all the cars were leased from Leasing Direct, but not all the cars had the leasing company’s logo on them.

ESU was brought down to light up the block so that police can check if there were other cars that were vandalized.

Residents on the block said that they believe that the vandal lives one block over, since he has been seen hanging around, police said that they would investigate it.

    this is terrible
however maybe we should all learn a lesson here
crown heights has seemed to sprung up into a rea;;y shallow place where the only thing that matters is what type of fancy car you leased from leasing direct and it doesnt seem to matter whose toes you step on to get that car or who you have“scratched”
lets get perspective thank g-d it is just cars and not human beings and let us stand up and have some more ahavas yisroel and ahavas achim
halivai such a big deal be made when WE hurt and SCRATCH each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone in CH should have a security camera pointed to the street. it’s cheap (just combine a webcam with a computer). Face it people, you live amongst animals and when you live in the jungle you gotta protect yourself someway!!

Would a lubavitcher be embarrassed if t he Rebbe saw him/her in a upscale automobile??

  • Crown Heights Resident

    The Rebbe Said:
If Israel gives away land that Hashem gave them, this will put the lives of Jews all over the world in danger

    this message is for you…
people work hard and have the right to drive whichever car they please just because you can’t afford it doesn’t mean they can’t drive it!

  • A concern resident

The point is: vandalism cannot go on like this in our neighborhood, its a threat to one’s property. Acts like this leave the entire neighborhood vulnerable to these hideous acts.

Please explain to me in a clear and concise manner, what is wrong with having an upscale car? Do we all have to live like beggers, schnorering off the Government at every opportunity?

  • sick of the jealousy

why is everyone blaming the owners of the cars. let them live. if they want to drive that car, let it be. what’s it to u? r u jealous? what is with all the Jewish guilt? i feel bad for the owners that they have to live in such a slummy gross neighborhood for whatever reasons and have their hard earned property ruined by some low class jealous people. stop judging and look at your own lives and what u have..stop counting other people’s things.

Just saying its embarrasing to have a beard, black hat etc and to have an upscale auto-or at least it should be viewed that way

A jew should have a used vehicle and one that is average at best. The rest of that money should either be saved for more important items or given to tzedakkah. Its plain wrong to have a BMW or similar.

  • ChanaMommy

Anybody who buys a fancy car should have to paid an additional 10% on on their childrens tuition in order to help lower the cost to struggling families.

  • y.w

The same thing happened to my car on lincoln place thursday night, its not a fancy van yet it was still vandelized, they must have seen a jewish item that was on the seat.

  • It-s called a garage

I’m not in any way condoning what was done. However, why would anyone that owns anything of value leave it out in the street in such a neighborhood? Did you people not hear of garages? Yes, I know that these condos don’t come with garage spaces but there are garages available for rent you know!

  • someone with a little bit of sense

theirs nothing wrong with having a fancy car if some one has the money why not use it…but there is something wrong with calling other humans animals (Scorpio) and i don’t think a web cam is gonna do u much good….and people imagine if this was your car and even a piece of junk I’m sure u would be saying the same thing…DON’T BE SOOO CLOSED MINDED!!!!

This is the most absurd comment I have seen on this site in a long time. Who are you – Robin Hood? If some has B“H been blessed with a lot of money, why should they have to pay more fees. What’s it your business where their ”extra” money goes to?

Nope, you’ve still lost me. You’ve still not explained why not. Where does it say one cannot be frum and drive a nice car? Not in my Shulchan Aruch!

  • anonymous

i dont think the rebbe would have have i have a problem with fancy cars as long as your not showing it off and you truly can afford it. besides the rebbe was driven around in a Cadillac.

  • Disgusted

    Disgusted

    TO The Crown Heightser…

I personally know each member who had
their car vandilized. Not only are they the nicest of people in the community but also happen to have huge hearts and empty their pockets when it comes to giving tzedaka.
You say you own a acura
I want to see your expression on your face when your car gets scratched up
let see how fast you’ll come to judge

  • mine and proud

Dont give me rebbe,,, one of the cars that were hit were mine and my friends and yes all the people who’s car were hit MAKE THE REBBE PROUD they give more tedokah and care for other’s then you or 90% of the ppl in CH to the rebbe causes (ppl and mosdas) so if you cant afford a nice car then go out get a job make a couple bucks give alot of tedokah and u2 will have a nice car till then SHUT UP!!

    wow
this turned out to be a place that people ended up venting at each other
i personally think the crown heightser was right
and i give him credit for not responding just once again to the nasty comment directed at him
it is just cars and not people
also a person only makes what hashem allows him to
it is well known that the big gurus work less hard than the lower class
ao people all work hard to make a decent living
i dont think the intention was to put down the owners of the cars rather to make a point that we need to have more AHAVAS YISROEL and from the responces it is clear that we are in dire need of that
just to note i myself make a small scratch on my car so i dont get so upset when it gets scratched up by others
i fell bad for those who had thier cars scratced i fell bad for those that cant afford nice cars and i feel bad for those that got berated for voicing thier opinions
LET US ALL WISH EACH OTHER WELL and let it be a KAPPARAH
