Historic Election Day Begins in Crown Heights

Today is Election Day, and members of our community have an opportunity to make their voice heard.

This election may not receive the attention of a presidential, gubernatorial or mayoral race, but that’s the key why it is a winnable race for Crown Heights resident and NYS Assembly candidate Ahron Gluck, according to Gluck’s campaign. “With the ultra-low general turnout throughout the broader district, a strong and powerful turnout from fellow Lubavitchers can Bez”h decide the outcome of today’s election,” they said.

The New York State Assembly makes decisions that affect our neighborhood, our families, our Yeshivas and schools, public safety, housing, shelters, and many of the issues that matter most to our community. It’s impact on our daily lives can be significant

Because this is not a major citywide, statewide or national election, turnout is expected to be very low. Fewer than 2,000 voters participated during early voting in our district. In an election with such low turnout, every vote truly matters and can make a real difference.

Adding to the challenge, rain is in the forecast today. Experience shows that poor weather often keeps people home, resulting in even lower turnout. That means every person who takes a few minutes to go out and vote can have a meaningful impact on the outcome.

“Our community has always understood the importance of taking responsibility for its future. Voting is one of the ways we can stand up for our values, our institutions, and the needs of our families,” Gluck’s campaign wrote.

In addition to the community’s strong support for NYS Assembly candidate Ahron Gluck, residents have also been encouraged to vote for Members of the State Committee candidates Nakisha O. Evans and Akel K. Williams both are running together on a slate for male and female district leaders and are friends, allies and strong supporters of the Crown Heights Jewish community, they have also received the CH PAC community leaders which include members of the Vaad Hakohol endorsement, along with Gluck.

Polls are open today until 9:00 PM.

“Please encourage your family members, friends and neighbors to vote as well for a member of anash, Ahron Gluck,” his campaign wrote. “In a low-turnout election as today’s, just a small number of votes can determine the outcome.”

Every Crown Heights resident should take a few moments today to participate in flooding the polls for this historic opportunity.

Every vote matters. Every voice matters. Vote today.
