Packed House at CHJCC Legislative Brunch Draws Top Officials, Fiery Speeches
With streets closed and the venue filled to capacity, the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC) Legislative Brunch on Sunday turned into a high-powered display of political unity, community advocacy, and unmistakable energy.
Community leaders, elected officials, and residents packed the event, underscoring the growing political influence of the Crown Heights Jewish community and its deepening relationships with city and state leadership.
At the center of the program was CHJCC Acting Chair Shmuel Rosenstein, who opened the event with what many attendees described as the most powerful speech of the day. Rosenstein delivered a forceful and passionate address, emphasizing community needs, public safety concerns, and the importance of continued political engagement.
Close behind was Speaker of the New York City Council Julie Menin, one of the highest-ranking Jewish officials in city government, who delivered another standout speech that resonated strongly with the audience. Her remarks focused on advocacy, representation, and strengthening ties between government and the Crown Heights community.
The brunch drew an impressive roster of elected officials from across New York’s political landscape. Among those in attendance were New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, Attorney General of New York Letitia James, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, members of New York City Council Farah Louis and Rita Joseph, New York State Representatives Brian Cunningham and Kalman Yeger, along with former District Leader Geoffrey Davis.
Notably absent was New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, who did not attend.
The event also featured moments of uniquely Crown Heights character, with Lincoln Restler and congressional candidate Mike Goldfarb putting on tefillin—an image symbolizing the intersection of civic life and Jewish tradition.
Attendees also spotted New York Assembly Candidate for District 43 Ahron Gluck in conversation with New York State Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, highlighting the behind-the-scenes networking that defines events like these.
According to participants, the atmosphere was electric throughout, with speeches repeatedly drawing applause and the crowd remaining engaged from start to finish.
The CHJCC Legislative Brunch continues to serve as a key platform for fostering relationships between Crown Heights residents and policymakers—while also giving elected officials a direct line to one of Brooklyn’s most active and organized communities.
