CHJCC Focuses on Enhancing Social Service Offering; Seeking a Director of Social Services

The Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC) is taking significant strides to enhance its social service offerings in response to the evolving needs of the community.

Over the past couple of months, the council has been assessing how to improve access to essential social service benefits, recognizing the importance of providing comprehensive support to residents. This initiative aims to ensure that every member of the Crown Heights community can easily navigate the social service landscape and receive the assistance they require.

To spearhead this revitalization, the council is actively seeking to hire a Director of Social Services who will be responsible for revamping the existing program offerings and developing new strategies to better serve the community.

The ideal candidate for the Director of Social Services position will possess a strong background in social work and community outreach, with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others. Position: Director of Social Services

Crown Heights Jewish Community Council is looking for a leader for its busy community based social service office. The successful candidate will be someone who shares the goal of the CHJCC leadership that the maximum amount of assistance should be available to Crown Heights families and individuals and that everyone who comes into our office should leave with a feeling that they received courteous and effective service.

The new Director will be tasked with managing the staff of 8 full and part-time employees who provide the following services:

– Access to government benefits, such as SNAP, SCRIE, housing subsidy and utility assistance.
​- Crisis management for families dealing with illness, bereavement, child rearing issues, or family breakup. Ongoing support for single parents.
​- Care for seniors aging in community (including management of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid).

– Holocaust Survivor Program.
​Referral to professionals for in depth care.
​Support for Victims of Crime through NY State.

Applicant should be experienced and proficient in as many as possible of the following areas: 

– Bringing out the best in their team 
Providing a positive customer experience
Working in agencies supported by government grants (compliance, reporting, etc)
– Projecting a positive public image of the agency
– Provision of Benefits Access to clients
Setting up and maintaining systems to make the provision of services more efficient

Qualifications:

– Preference would be given to a licensed Social Worker.
– 3-5 years managerial experience
– Experience in case management preferred
– Proficient knowledge of government benefit programs (e.g., Medicaid)
– Familiarity with Microsoft office applications
– A strong desire to help people

Reports to Executive Director
Salary $80,000 plus benefits
