Op-Ed: CHJCC Elections; Reject Fear, Embrace Wisdom

by A Crown Heights Resident

As a long-time resident of Crown Heights, I’m deeply troubled by the fear-mongering tactics surfacing in our community elections. Our vibrant neighborhood deserves better than divisive campaigns.

Some of the videos released by candidates might grab attention, but they are laced with fear. This isn’t the Crown Heights I know and love—a community where diversity thrives and unity is our strength.

The Torah teaches us to value the wisdom of our elders. וְאַבְרָהָ֣ם זָקֵ֔ן בָּ֖א בַּיָּמִ֑ים – אין זקן אלא זה שקנה חכמה. Avraham’s accumulated days increased his worth; so too does the wisdom of our seasoned leaders. But are we truly valuing this wisdom? Or are we being swayed by flashy, fear-driven tactics?

We stand at a crossroads. Will we choose fear and division, or will we embrace the wisdom of our elders? Candidates with decades of leadership and unparalleled experience in government and military service are the ones who can guide us through challenges, not with fear, but with wisdom and vision. Their records speak volumes—they’ve navigated complexities with integrity and dedication.

In these times, Crown Heights needs leaders who prioritize unity and substantive solutions over divisive fear tactics. Let’s reject fear-mongering and embrace the wisdom of our elders. Voting for seasoned leaders isn’t just a choice; it’s a necessity for the survival and prosperity of our community.

As we approach the elections, let’s focus on choosing leaders who embody our highest values and who will work tirelessly for the peace and progress of our community. Let’s choose a path of hope, unity, and progress.

Stand for Crown Heights. Stand for peace. Reject fear.

Only one video has been produced and it was very positive and hopeful for the future.

This is a cheap attempt at accusing others of what you yourself are doing, being negative and decisive.

    • I agree with the author

If you watch the first minute or so of the video it’s very doom and gloom. we’re not living in the 90s anymore.
It’s the same trick the democrats try to play we’re not gonna fall for it

They haven’t said a negative word about elders.
Them dealing with actual issues and explaining it is exactly what we need.

We’ve accomplished zilch in the past 35 years. We held no elections, people drive out to willi for basic services, there are homeless shelters left and right, young ppl can’t afford housing. But we bought in 1980 when it was 130k so take a seat and listen here. Stay positive. Trust us. Eat less avocado toasts. All will be good.
