“Stop Police Brutality, Drop the Charges Now!”
A few hundred demonstrators marched down Kingston Ave. this afternoon, demanding the end of police brutality and the dropping of the false and absurd charges against Ehud Halevy.
The march began at Kingston Ave. and Eastern Parkway with a relatively small number of protesters, but as the march made its way towards the 71st Precinct on Empire Blvd. the number of marchers swelled significantly.
Chants of “we are not punching bags, stop the violence now!” and “stop police brutality, drop the charges now!” were heard throughout the march.
While the anger was clearly felt, the protest went off without incident. There were no confrontations with the police, who were present in very large numbers.
we need another one
sunday evening we need to bring out the entire CH and busses from flaybushe BP Willi Monsey and so on we need 50k people
we can do it we can get it all over the news and put pressure on the NYPD
Don-t be a victim
I was @ Kingston. Maybe 100 people were there. Where was everyone else? In a community of 10,000+, with more than 3 MILLION Yidden in the city, is this the best we could do? Yes, it’s erev Shabbos (it is for me too.) Yes, it’s raining (I get wet too.) Yes, we women need to cook (I came back & put up my fish, sides etc.)
The point is, where was everyone? Why weren’t flyers put out in Flatbush, Willy & BP? Why weren’t other web sites contacted so people would know about it? Why weren’t CH homes called to remind us to show up?
I don’t know the victim but next time, it could be you. Wouldn’t you expect your community to be there for you???
Amen!
I’m sorry I couldn’t make it out but they are right. Stop police brutality!
chaveirim
we have to do it williamsburg style, (open the manholes and ppl go missing etc…) after enough cops learn the lesson it will stop
to # 2
relax nobody died
we are not blacks that dont work we all have families and a life
make it at a time when we can all make it
check out
just look at beth rivka every morning lefferts av 2 or 3 police man giving tickets left and right . no one is near the public school triple parking y are u kipping quite?
The 1%
Only 1% of the CH “community” showed up. Where were the 99%? This is why no one takes us seriously; this is why the cops will check for cameras before they beat the…out of the next Jew they find.

Yes, he was innocent but the police didn’t know that and he shouldn’t have resisted arrest.
Sorry but that’s the quickest and dumbest way to get taken down. When you resist in the fashion he did, it gives them more reason to believe you’re a threat. What did he think would happen?
hahaha
that’s hilarious. rogatsky at a stop the bullying and brutality demonstration.

TheTruthHurts
Embarrassing. The NYPD has protected this community for years and they quickly turn on them over this incident. Dov Hikind should be ashamed of himself by associating with a low life like Eric Adans and Norman Siegel. Officer Vega was completely justified in his actions.

Don’t you think police are trained for these things? they have simple tactics (especially two on one!) to get those cuffs on.
Next, did they have the right to arrest him in the first place? some random guy calls and police can just walk in and arrest?
Best line at event
Best line came from that Pastor who spoke and called the police a wife beater who was upset that he missed the opportunity that night to beat his wife so he found Ehud as a convenient replacement as victim… Laughed my brains out!

Its nice to see mivtzoim on our own CH boys!
If the organizers were smart
they would get the goyim from this neighborhood involved in the demonstration too. Black people are even more victims of police brutality than yidden, I think they would have been glad to come. Bet there would have been more of them then the dismal turn out of jews.
No place for Racism in Judaism.
As a Jew (and not a liberal) I am ashamed of Number 5’s comment. I hope you are not Jewish. It’s important to treat others the way you would want to be treated. Making racist comments is not something a Jew should do. Leave that to the Police Officers.
ashamed of #5 also
I missed that as I was skimming the comments. He’s a jerk who is embarrassing our good community of CH which is 99% non racist.
uncle meyer
a double yo for arik raskin and yakov behrman. i know we gonna succeed when they show up.
increase the peace
together we will conquer. black and jews of CH together to bring moshiach!!!

why don’t you stay in 770 you moron and leave the dumb comments with you in your holy world of nareshkeit.
I’d rather have moishe with no smicha if you so say so – at least putting an effort to help OUR kids – than have you, most likely a laydeyayer and unemplyed single guy even havin access to any computer for that matter!
get a life.
The rain def held back many as did the timing obviously Fri at 2pm is a tight hour – also many did not know about it so lets give them some slack.
Hey Crownheight.info you guys are becoming famous .. keep it up.
best picture
is boy putting on tefillin
Positive !!!!
I don’t know fieglin personally but I admire his work , for those few inappropriate comments putting him Down , I doubt those that write it do any work helping others , so maybe try that and you wouldn’t be so cynical. Ehud doesn’t deserve what happened to him, yes he was resisting arrest but that doesn’t warrant a beating ( mind you nazi style) and all the charges he’s facing. All those that care , it’s a beautiful thing and shows the connection Jews feel for another and if you don’t , don’t bother commenting . I Agee we should have all been there , Friday afternoon is not always possible for mothers with kids cooking shabbos.
here is why so few attended
was this called, or at least endorsed, by ANY rov or mashpia?
thats why i didnt go.
in my opinion, this demonstrates to the world: we will not be led by anyone other than religious authority!
yep, im proud of you, crown heights.

stating the fact does not make you a racist,
most blacks in our community do not work and most frum people do
this is fact nothing to do with being a racists so get this left propaganda out of your head and call it for what it is
#5 was explaining why when blacks protest they have thousands and when jews protest very few people show up
as frum jews we have a more meaningful life, we dont just sit around and wait for a protest!

“Don’t you think police are trained for these things? they have simple tactics (especially two on one!) to get those cuffs on.”
Are you a police officer? Were you there? What would you have done? Do you have audio to know what Ehud was saying? Be honest in that no matter what tactic they would’ve used, you’d still be offended. Would you have preferred a taser, mace, what tactics?
When Occupy Wall Street was happening and non-violent protestors were being beaten up, maced, were you okay with that?
“Next, did they have the right to arrest him in the first place? some random guy calls and police can just walk in and arrest?”
Yes, because the guy who called wasn’t random, he worked there. They woke up Ehud, he was clearly not cooperative and he may have said some things that made the situation worse.
You think police should just ignore every “random” complaint and not arrest an uncooperative person? Maybe we should just get rid of the police altogether.
There is a lot missing from this story and people shouldn’t judge until it’s in court and the truth from all parties comes out.
i wasnt even aware of this protest!!
i wish i would have known about it!
i agree Friday afternoon many ppl would not be realistically abe to make it!!
dont be so quick to judge those who either didnt know or couldn’t make it friday 2pm

Police Chief David Couper
When will they learn? Police use of excessive force, especially deadly force, corruption and other misconduct hurts everyone – especially the police — in terms of lost cooperation, support and trust – which, in turn, diminishes their effectiveness. That’s the reality. Now what? To learn how to confront and prevent it, see, “Arrested Development: A Veteran Police Chief Sounds Off About Protest, Racism, Corruption and the Seven Steps Necessary to Improve Our Nation’s Police” (Amazon.com). And my blog at http://improvingpolice.word…
Need better signs
those were some weak signs, step it up Crown Heights…Get some colorful paper or sharpies, they cant be too expensive.. I mean at least Bubble Letters geez show a little care
what-s a protest without cholent?
and of course, Yaakov Behrman
to # 36
are you dumb? or just plain stupid? we are talking about crown heights brooklyn NY not israel!!
Not well publicized
The protest was not well publicized.
Women holding the poster
Why were they laughing? I was there and was uncomfortable to see a group of young women smiling and laughing as they held up the signs. Ladies- wouldn’t it have been a better idea to show you were serious about the issue rather than giving the impression that it’s a joke?
Missing the Point
This is not just a question of police brutality, it’s a general prejudice and perception that law abiding Jews can be treated as second class citizens which led to this terrible incident. This resulted in over ticketing at best and taking the sides of the blacks at crime scenes at worst. Standing alongside black activists and acting as though it is a shared issue and that police aggression issues are equally serious for serious criminals as for law abiding Jews is a joke.

THEY DOING WHAT EVER THEY WANT STOPING PEOPLE FOR NOTHING SEARCHING THEM (ALTHOUGH ITS AGAINST THE LAW) ARRESTING FOR NOTHING ONLY BECAUSE THEY FEEL LIKE IT AND NOBODY IS STOPING THEM OR DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT NOT MAYOR OR POLICE COMMISIONER THAT IS WHY THEY BEHAVING BADLY
