AGAIN: Bochur Beaten in 770 by Tzfatis

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A Bochur was beaten yesterday in 770 while davening Shacharis by a Tzfati bochur. He was grabbed by his ear and slapped across the face, while others just watched and did not intervene. Hanholo refused to comment or take action.

The assailant was identified as Schneur Pugatch, a graduate of the Mishechist Yeshiva in Tzfat, who had returned on Wednesday from a trip to India.

“As I sat and davened in 770, a large Bochur attacked me with great viciousness. He tried to make it look like nothing was happening, but finally when someone warned him he slapped me across the face and walked away” the victim described in his own words.

The victim explained to CrownHeights.info that when he was on Merkos Shlichus this past Pesach he encountered his attacker in Manali, India. “When we saw another Lubavitcher Bochur in such a faraway place, we quickly approached him thinking he went missing, but his response was chilling: ‘it is worth it for you guys to get out of town, otherwise it will be your end’ is what he told us. But being Shluchim of the Rebbe, we didn’t leave!”

This Bochur whom they encountered in India is the same one who made the attack in 770 yesterday.

The Hanholo of Kvutzeh are aware of this incident, and have so far not returned any calls for comment.

In the last incident, where a Shliach’s Tefillin were stolen – which CrownHeights.info reported, we followed up with a letter from the Hanholo that they will not tolerate any Bochur’s involvement in politics. But so far there has been no action on the part of Hanoholo.

    In 2009 Mr. Hendel reported giving the amount of $31,449 to Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim (770).

    Total amount reported to CYTT in recent years: $106,903 (not including the $5,000 given to Friends of YTT)

    It is WIS belief that Mr. Hendel uses funds from his non-for-profit by paying off the Yeshiva to sign affidavits for the purpose of having his boys receive student visas. Once they have these student visas they are then employed by Mr. Hendel.

    Mr. Hendel also pays the Yeshiva to let these so called “students” reside in 749 and eat from the Yeshiva dining room, although they do not actually attend the Yeshiva.

    And those is the reason that despite all the acts of violence we (the Crown Heights residents) have witnessed or heard about coimng from these “students” and despite the fact that these students have participated in Mesira (informing on other Jews – usually on those who oppose Mr. Hendels agenda), the Yeshiva has taken absolutely no action and as a matter of fact did not even say a word of protest.     The reason is now so obvious, these “students” belong to Menachem Mendel Hendel, Hendel paid for them, they are not under the Yeshivas jurisdiction.

    If crown heights cared they wouldn’t have voted in the same Gaboim who have tolerated this behavior over the past 10 years and they wouldn’t have voted in an unqualified individual to be 3rd “Rov”.
    Until CH starts to give a dam and shows it, I and others like me – normal, semi-chassidish but frum residents – will not step into 770 or take part in the wider CH community.

    The victim needs to go to the police. And if he needs a psak I’ll send him to a respected, renowned Rav who told me years ago that we need to go to the police for acts of violence. Coward that I was I didn’t follow through & I regret it to this day. If I had, the violence might not be what we see today.

    I have a question for the folks here (I am baal teshuva, so I only recently became frum, everything is new to me). I visited 770 last year, and noticed a few very very strange things. I came to daven mincha, and saw people still in their tefillin (?!!!). Also some guy came up to me and asked me if I was going to join the “Rebbe’s minyan”. I said “OK”, quite eagerly but then once I came there I saw that folks stood in two lines facing each other, clapping hands and moving their head, as though some ghost was coming through between the lines. A little while later I asked one of the people, “what’s going on why they did it” and he said, “look the Rebbe is over there” and pointed at the front of the minyan.
    Then it dawned on me as I saw the “Yechi” signs (and I was told what it means), and the pictures of the Rebbe everywhere, and souvenirs from the key chains to wallets with the picture of the rebbe sold outside… The sure ferocity of that was scary.
    And now I hear that the bochrum gang from Israel is terrorising all these who are not as meschianists as they are? That reminds me of what the Greeks from the Chanukah stories.
    So the question is: when the Maccabees liberated our Beis Hamikdosh, they had to clean out the temple, through away the idols and kick out the idol worshipers. 770 has been Chabad “temple” (in the sense of the word where the Rebbe’s presence is still felt). Why can’t you all kick these people out and reclaim the place of the Rebbe’s legacy? Are there powerful people or owners of the building or some special interests that want to see the mafia-like casing in this shul? Is their presence in there today not Chillul Hashem?

    The answer is that if you “lemel” were to do so, then yes, it would be mesira. If the victim did so it would not be. In a case like this the victim is allowed to masser his assailant; if he chooses not to, nobody else has that right.

I am sorry that 770 is in such disturbing turmoil, and something has to be done about it, but y’all should know that if you truly want yiddishkeit for the sake of the Abishter and do what the Rebbe truly wants, then there are really places to daven without people who have other agendas.

    Judging from the tznius problem, the women would probably jubecome pregnant. Why, because the men are more untznius than the women. And besides the tznius problem with the women started with the men. Women are a mekabel st & they got this attitude from the men, the rabbanim, mashpiim, teachers, roshei yeshivah, etc. This is a very old problem, so don’t blame it on the young ones. You will never clear up this problem because Chabad & the world REFUSES to accept & correct the source and the root of the problem. The Rebbe MHM made it very clear, the problem lies with the parents & the teachers, and in our generation, the biggest problem & difficulty is the teaching. At the recent Gimmel Tamuz farbrengen in 770, to give an example, I approached two noted mashpiim, seperately, one for the women, & one for the men.
    I showed them a sichah from the Rebbe MHM & the footnote, in question, and I asked them to explain to me what they think about this statement of the Rebbe MHM. They, each one, gave a very,very different explaination & interpretation, one more absurd & ridiculous than the other. If I was a young man or women, I would never ask these people anything ever again, and rightly so. The Rebbe MHM talks about Mieseh, action, these mashpiim answered, with sforos, ideas, understanding, Chochmah, etc. This is exactly the same story as what happened with miftzah teffilin, which happened about 50 YEARS AGO!! If someone learned this sichah, and did, or acted on what the Rebbe MHM says, both sides, the right, & the left, would want to throw the student OUT of yeshivah. Quit blaming the students, these are the 2 top mashpiim for the women and the men!!! Either correct the situation, or keep your mouths shut. The students are not at fault. They are young and poorly influenced.

BUT- Open Lashon Hara like this article, whether a story is true or not, does not provoke ANYTHING positive. Proper action is not announcing to the world that we have #%$* to deal with.     He was last heard speaking Hebrew with a thick Israeli accent.

    He has a history of violence.

    He has somehow received membership of the yeshiva, which is understandable as the yeshiva does not screen applicants very well.

    I see that at least one person knows how to think. Thanks for your comments, they are always right on, and explain the situation clearly. But as you see from the peoples comments they are not capable of getting anything that you say. Look at 66,67,68. They are really frightening to me as they show deep psychological dysfunction. I cannot imagine how the Rebbe could ever deal with such a mixed up people. It is obvious that they never learned anything from the Rebbe, so don’t expect these Jews to learn anything from what you have to say, and I commend you for your efforts, but I think your efforts are all in vain.

    Secondly, while this story is aggravating, it is obvious even from this website’s telling of it, that this related to some sort of prior fight. So to present it with screaming headlines (as if people davening in 770 get attacked out of the blue) is just misleading and sensationalist.
