First Ever Public Menorah Lighting in Islington, London

On the 3rd night of Chanukah, Chabad held it’s first ever public menorah lighting at the Islington Green. Over one hundred participants enjoyed potato latkes, doughnuts and hot cocoa in a family friendly atmosphere.

The Mayor of Islington, Phil Kelly, spoke proudly of being the first Islington mayor to lead this event.

Charlie the Clown entertained the children with a magic show and balloons. The event concluded with a raffle, and some lucky kids walked away with fun Chanukah gifts. The event was hosted by Rabbi Mendy & Hadasa Korer of Chabad-Lubavitch of Islington.

The Menorah stood at Islington Green during the entire eight day festival of Chanukah. Each evening various members of the Islington community took turns in lighting the Menorah. A long time resident said “Every day I passed the Green and saw the Menorah I was so proud.”
