Three Jewish Boys Undergo Brit Milah After Mother Leaves Interfaith Relationship

Three Jewish boys whose family had been caught in a cycle of assimilation underwent a brit milah at a moving ceremony held at the Chabad House in Migdal HaEmek, directed by Rabbi Avraham Wilhelm.

The ceremony followed the intervention of Ohr L’Achim, an organization dedicated to combating assimilation and helping Jews reconnect with their heritage. The children’s mother, who had been involved in a relationship with an Arab man, received assistance from the organization in leaving the relationship.

Following her rescue, arrangements were made for her three sons to have their brit milah meld.

The ceremony was attended by Harav Yeshayahu Hertzl, Chief Rabbi of Nof HaGalil and a member of the Chabad Rabbinical Court, and Harav Yaakov Yosef Cohen, a Rav in Bnei Brak and one of the organization’s Rabbanim. Both served as sandakim during the ceremonies.

The britot were performed by expert mohel Rabbi Yedidya Kravitz, who regularly assists Ohr L’Achim with brit milah ceremonies.

The organization is continuing to accompany the family through the process of returning to Jewish life, including proceedings currently taking place through the Rabbinate.

Once the process is completed, Ohr L’Achim plans to arrange a festive bar mitzvah celebration for the children at the Kotel.

“This is an especially moving moment,” said Rabbi Binyamin Volkan of Ohr L’Achim. “Behind every such story stands an entire family. The struggle to preserve Jewish identity is a struggle for the children’s future and their connection to Klal Yisrael.”

“We thank everyone who helped make this day possible,” he added. “We will continue working to rescue Jews from assimilation and reconnect them with their roots.”
