You never know where a workday will take you.

I went out to price an asbestos testing job.

While we were talking, my client told me he had a few other problems he needed help with. So we left and walked over to his office around the corner.

That’s when I saw him – a Jewish police officer, standing on the corner.

I waved. Introduced myself. We started talking about how he became a cop.

Then, out of nowhere, he turned to the two guys we were with and asked one question:

“Did you put on tefillin?”

One said yes.

The other said no. You could see the hesitation.

The officer kept encouraging him. And right there on the sidewalk, in the middle of an ordinary day, he put on tefillin.

I came to talk about asbestos. I ended up watching something much bigger.

It’s crazy how the world works. Glad I stopped to say hello.
