Every Shliach in the US and Canada got a Free Daled Minim Set

Within ten hours of the announcement going out, more than 500 Shluchim had reserved theirs.

The gift comes from Merkos 302 and Keren Hashluchim, in partnership with Judaica.com, and covers every Shliach in the United States and Canada. The sets are premium-quality daled minim, donated by Yossi Krybus of Krybus Esrogim.

“Shluchim spend the entire Yom Tov making sure that everybody else has what they need,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, executive director of Merkos 302. “We wanted them to walk into Sukkos knowing that somebody was thinking about them, too.”

Thousands of sets were shipped nationwide and to Canada. As the project was rolled out, additional shipments were procured to accommodate the tremendous demand. Last-minute orders were still being shipped as recently as after Yom Kippur. Wholesale pricing was also arranged with EasyEtrog for Shluchim ordering additional sets for their communities, with a price list available alongside the reservation form.

Fulfillment was handled by Shmuly Haskelevich of EasyEtrog, an expert who has spent years working with Shluchim on their daled minim needs. Tzemach Rosenfeld of Judaica.com and his team processed the orders and was fielding the questions that have been coming in since the announcement went out. “This is a gift in recognition of the hard work that the Shluchim do,” Rosenfeld said. “They deserve the recognition and the resources and the support in any way possible.”

The sets are part of a partnership between Merkos 302 and Judaica.com aiming to make tashmishei kedusha easier for communities to get their hands on. The thinking is straightforward. A community member who wants a mezuzah, a pair of tefillin, a talis, a pair of tzitzis, or a yarmulke should be able to get one through the local Chabad house rather than searching for a source on his own.

“They shouldn’t have to be looking all over the internet trying to find these things. It should be available to them on a local level.” Rosenfeld said. “This is just the beginning.”
