Benny Friedman’s “Homeward Bound” Gets a Hebrew Version

From the very first time I heard “Homeward Bound,” I connected deeply with its message and its musical style. The longing for home, for Jerusalem, and for where we truly belong touched me.

This Hebrew version is not a word-for-word translation. Because of the differences between English and Hebrew, and the need to fit the original melody and rhythm, some lines had to be adapted. My goal was to stay as close as possible to the meaning, spirit, and message of the original song.

Before creating this Hebrew version, I reached out to Nochum Levitan, the song’s writer and composer, and to Benny Friedman, the original performer, and received their permission to create the Hebrew adaptation. I’m very grateful to them for allowing me to give this beautiful song a Hebrew voice.
