The History of Jewgo

Dovi Brody and Mendel Lieberman of South Florida have spent the last two years working on a project to revolutionize modern Jewish life. Here’s what they accomplished.

Dovi Brody met Mendel Lieberman in Pre 1a, and they’ve been friends ever since. Both of their families have been in Florida for quite some time, Mendel’s grandfather running ORB, and Dovi’s starting the first Kosher store in Florida. They’ve been here for it all. They’ve seen the community grow and flourish and really change over the years.

Two years ago, Dovi had an idea. What if everything Jewish was in one place? A directory that you could open and see all the Shuls, restaurants, businesses, Mikvaos, and everything else Jewish near you. So, he started making that directory of South Florida. But the list got too big. So, he made it an app. Together with Mendel Lieberman, they created the next big thing. Jewgo.

After a year of building it out, Jewgo 1.0 was launched. It was a massive directory of South Florida where you not only saw generic information, but information that was updated daily, so you didn’t go to an eatery that was closed.

Jewgo 1.0 was a major hit. In the first hours of launch, there were 800 downloads, and months later, 600 daily users. The momentum kept going.
