New Shluchim Set to Establish Chabad Presence in West Philadelphia
West Philadelphia is witnessing a renewed chapter in Jewish life as a new Chabad Shlichus is being launched by Rabbi Mendel and Mushka Dubrowski to serve the growing Jewish community in the area.
Once home to a thriving Jewish population during the mid-20th century, West Philadelphia has seen a resurgence of Jewish life in recent years. As young professionals, families, and others put down roots in the area, the Jewish population continues to grow, with an estimated 4,000 Jews now living throughout West Philadelphia.
Recognizing the tremendous potential to build upon this momentum, the Dombrowski’s’ are embarking on a new Shlichus to establish a Chabad presence in West Philly and create a welcoming Jewish home for the community.
The Dubrowskis’ vision is to build a warm and inclusive environment where every Jew, regardless of background, affiliation, or level of Jewish knowledge, can feel a sense of belonging, connection, and inspiration.
From the outset, the new Chabad will seek to offer a broad range of programs and services, including Torah classes, opportunities to perform mitzvos, holiday celebrations, community Shabbat dinners, and engaging programming for children and families.
The goal is not simply to establish another Jewish institution, but to lay the foundation for a vibrant Jewish community that can grow and flourish for generations to come.
Launching a new Shlichus requires building an entire infrastructure from the ground up. Without an existing Chabad House, established programming, or a base of financial support, the Dubrowskis are turning to friends, family, colleagues, and supporters to help kickstart the Shlichus.
Their campaign seeks to establish the foundation necessary to begin serving the Jewish community and create a sustainable home for Jewish life in West Philadelphia.
Every partnership will help make it possible to bring Torah, mitzvos, Jewish education, and meaningful community experiences to thousands of Jews who are increasingly calling West Philly home.
At the heart of the new Shlichus is the timeless mission of Chabad-Lubavitch: to reach every Jew with warmth and love, strengthen Jewish identity and practice, and bring more light into the world through Torah and mitzvos.
The Dubrowskis hope that the new Chabad House will become a place where Jews can celebrate their heritage, ask questions, learn, connect, and discover the beauty of Jewish life.
As they begin this new chapter, Rabbi Mendel and Mushka Dubrowski are inviting the wider Chabad community to partner with them in establishing this new center of Jewish life.
