A Wave of Renewal Marks the Opening of the School Year at the Main Yeshiva Ketana in Moscow
The month of Elul, bringing with it a breeze of renewal and the sounds of Torah, is deeply felt across the pastoral grounds of the educational campus in the ‘Istra’ neighborhood in the suburbs of Moscow. After the Bein HaZmanim break, and following a dedicated period of material and spiritual preparation, the doors of the “Tomchei Temimim” Yeshiva for young students opened, and the study hall came to life with the return of the Temimim to their studies.
In an uplifting atmosphere of a new beginning, the excited students and parents were welcomed by the Rosh Yeshiva, the Gaon and Chassid Rabbi Moshe Lerman, alongside the campus director Rabbi Yosef Moshe Weisberg and the yeshiva director Rabbi Chaim Moshe Weber. It is evident that the current year is marked by a significant step forward: the educational and physical systems have been upgraded and are now operating in a more monitored, professional, and vibrant manner than ever before.
The refreshing tidings of the new school year are reflected both in the renovations to expand the facilities—accommodating additional students who deeply desire to join this high-quality yeshiva—and in the direct pedagogical investment. Substantial effort has been invested this year in delivering the shiurim (classes) to the highest grade, a step that broadens and deepens the personal connection with the students, preparing them for their studies next year in Yeshiva Gedolah. Simultaneously, the yeshiva’s teaching staff is growing and expanding with the addition of a new faculty member, Rabbi Yosef Edrei, son-in-law of the orphanage director, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gol. Rabbi Edrei will serve as a Ram and Mashpia for the Shiur Aleph students, providing them with guidance and Chassidic warmth during their first steps within the yeshiva.
The uplifting atmosphere and evident investment inspire a spirit of tremendous enthusiasm. The yeshiva, established by the Chief Rabbi of Russia, the Gaon Rabbi Berel Lazar shlita, continues to solidify its status as a beacon of pure Chassidic education, alongside the other existing yeshivas in Moscow. With a profound sense of responsibility and gratitude for the excellent conditions, the Temimim began the new zman in the tent of Torah. They are ready to diligently pursue their studies and grow in Torah and Chassidus through immense dedication, learning from early morning until late at night with great vitality and joy.
