Popular Summer Kollel for Mechanchim Extends for Two More Weeks
Following the overwhelming enthusiasm and positive response from participants, the Summer Morning Kollel for Mechanchim held in the Rebbe’s Shul at 770 has been extended for an additional two weeks, beginning Monday, י״ג מנחם־אב (August 3). Mechanchim who have not yet participated are warmly invited to join this unique opportunity.
Organized through Igud Hamelamdim, the Kollel has brought together Mechanchim from yeshivos across the community for inspiring morning sedorim in Nigleh and Chassidus. Held in the newly renovated Ezras Nashim of 770, the Kollel has become one of the highlights of the summer, filling the Rebbe’s Shul each morning with the vibrant sound of Torah while providing participants with a unique atmosphere of achdus, inspiration, and menuchas hanefesh.
The Kollel is headed by veteran mechanech and mashpia Rabbi Nachman Shapiro, who serves as Rosh Kollel and meishiv throughout the morning seder. Together with Rabbi Yekusiel Feldman, he enriches the learning with engaging shiurim and illuminating insights. Rabbi Levi Matusof has devoted countless hours to preparing the learning booklets, coordinating the program, and helping create the exceptional experience that participants have come to appreciate so deeply. Rabbi Yoel Belenitsky has also been on hand throughout the program, assisting in every way and helping ensure the Kollel runs smoothly.
Specially prepared learning booklets guide participants through carefully selected sugyos in both Nigleh and Chassidus. In Chassidus, the learning centers on the concepts of Daas Elyon and Daas Tachton in the Rebbe’s Hemshech of תשט״ו, tracing their roots through the classic Hemshech Ayin Beis and the Frierdiker Rebbe’s maamarim of תרצ״ב. Rabbi Nachman Shapiro demonstrates how these profound concepts develop throughout Seder Hishtalshelus—from Ak through Atzilus and beyond—and ultimately find expression in a Yid’s daily avodah.
In Nigleh, many participants have immersed themselves in the sugya of Lulav HaGazul, following the discussion from the Gemara through the Rishonim, the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch, and practical halachah. At the same time, the Kollel follows the principle of “לעולם ילמוד אדם במקום שלבו חפץ,” encouraging each participant to pursue the areas of Torah that most inspire him.
Participants have spoken enthusiastically about the impact of the program.
“Beginning the day immersed in Torah together with fellow Mechanchim is an experience unlike anything else,” they shared. “The warmth, clarity, and menuchas hanefesh we gain each morning remain with us throughout the day and are felt directly in our classrooms. It is a tremendous chizuk both personally and professionally.”
Adding to the unique atmosphere of the program, participants gathered for a special farbrengen on ה׳ אב, marking the yahrzeit of the Arizal. The farbrengen was held together with the Kollel’s generous supporter, Rabbi Yosef Michashvili, who joined the Mechanchim for an evening of inspiration and heartfelt farbrengen, further strengthening the warm bond that has developed throughout the program.
Rabbi Avrohom Bluming, Director of Igud Hamelamdim, reflected on the broader impact of the initiative.
“When Mechanchim strengthen themselves in Torah, the beneficiaries are not only those sitting in the Beis Medrash. Every talmid they teach benefits from that inspiration. Providing Mechanchim with the opportunity to immerse themselves in Torah in such a meaningful environment is one of the greatest investments that can be made in the future of Chinuch.”
The organizers expressed their heartfelt appreciation to philanthropist Rabbi Yosef Michashvili, whose vision, generosity, and heartfelt commitment to increasing Torah learning—especially in the Rebbe’s Shul—have made the Kollel and its participant stipends possible. They offered their warm blessing that Hashem grant him continued brachah and hatzlachah in all his endeavors and that he merit to see abundant and lasting fruits from his dedication to strengthening Torah, Chassidus, and Chinuch.
