Shavuos Course on Torah and Technology Available to Shluchim Worldwide
by Yossi Weinstein
To commemorate the second yahrtzeit of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky ע״ה, CYP International at Merkos 302 is offering their special Shavuos curriculum free of charge for shluchim worldwide l’ilui nishmaso.
Titled “The Algorithm & The Almighty,” the thought-provoking course was created to help shluchim engage community members of all ages with some of the biggest conversations shaping modern life today: technology, artificial intelligence, free will, purpose, and the Torah’s perspective on a world increasingly driven by algorithms and digital culture.
“Many people look at the rapid speed of technological advancement and are fearful,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. The Rebbe taught us that technology, when harnessed correctly, is a tool for tremendous good. This course gives communities the Torah’s framework to navigate that world with clarity and confidence.”
Drawing on Torah sources, Midrash, Chassidus, and contemporary discussion, the course explores fascinating ideas, such as whether innovation is truly “new,” how Torah views mankind’s role in shaping the world, and the balance between human advancement and Divine purpose. The material presents these concepts in a relatable and engaging way that speaks directly to the questions many people are already thinking about.
“Rabbi Kotlarsky cared deeply about every shliach, and believed in giving them the tools and support to reach young Jews in meaningful and relevant ways,” said Rabbi Beryl Frankel, director of CYP International. “In his memory, we wanted to make this course available free of charge to all shluchim, continuing the mission he cared about so deeply.”
Especially on Shavuos, this course offers an opportunity to bring Torah learning to life in a way that feels timely and intellectually stimulating. Designed to spark conversation, strengthen connection, and create meaningful engagement within communities, Algorithm & The Almighty gives a space to explore timeless Torah ideas through the lens of the modern world while building stronger relationships.
