This Shavuos, Sing Together With Your Community
For generations, the nigunim of the Rebbeim have been central to Chassidishe farbrengens and Yom Tov seudos. Some grew up with these niggunim, others may be hearing them for the first time. Around many Yom Tov tables, one challenge comes up again and again: how do you help everyone truly feel part of the experience, especially guests or younger participants unfamiliar with the nigunim?
That’s exactly why the Seder Nigunim Companion was created.
Produced by the Moshiach Office at Merkos 302, the beautifully designed, full-color companion helps families and communities follow and appreciate the Rebbeim’s nigunim. Available in English and Spanish, and now including bentching, the companion brings the Rebbeim’s nigunim to farbrengens and Yom Tov meals worldwide.
“Nigunim have long been central to chassidishe farbrengens at the conclusion of Yom Tov,” says Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. “This companion helps create a meaningful and interactive Seder Nigunim experience that everyone can follow.”
Beyond the lyrics, translation, and transliteration, the companion explores the background and meaning behind each nigun. Photos of the Rebbeim help readers connect each nigun to its composer, allowing participants to better understand the background of each nigun. When used on a weekday, QR codes provide access to recordings, making it easier than ever for everyone around the table to join in.
Rabbi Chai Kohan, a shliach in South Florida, shares how the companion helps bring everyone into the experience. “Leading Seder Nigunim on the Shalosh Regalim can be challenging. The Seder Nigunim Companion ensures everyone can participate and gain a deeper appreciation for these nigunim.”
At a family Seder Nigunim, Zalman Negin, musician and founder of Mamesh Music, watched the experience take on a whole new dimension. “Each child introduced a nigun before singing it together. The companion added a layer of depth that made the experience much more meaningful.”
