Jewish Democratic Candidate Mike Goldfarb Enters NY-9 Race, Builds Ties To Chabad Through His Crown Heights Roots

A new face is entering the race for Congress in Brooklyn’s 9th District, and his connection to Chabad is growing through his roots in Crown Heights.

Mike Goldfarb, a Jew and Democratic candidate running in New York’s 9th Congressional District, has officially secured a place on the ballot for the upcoming June 23 primary, his campaign announced. With the filing deadline for challenges now passed, Goldfarb will face incumbent Yvette Clarke in what is expected to be a two-person race.

“This campaign has always been focused on truly representing the people of NY-9,” Goldfarb said in a statement. “That means speaking face-to-face with as many people as possible, listening to concerns, and offering a real alternative for leadership.”

Goldfarb’s platform centers on affordability, public safety, and what he describes as “effective representation” for working families—issues that resonate strongly with many residents in Crown Heights and surrounding communities.

Beyond policy, Goldfarb has roots—on a personal level—within Crown Heights. His grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, lived at 1500 Sterling Pl in Crown Heights after arriving in the United States.

His connection to Chabad is also growing, with a weekly study session with his Rabbi, Rabbi Levin, and visits to the Ohel in Cambria Heights, Queens.

In recent days, Goldfarb was also seen speaking at a Community Board 9 meeting in Crown Heights, addressing local concerns and introducing himself to constituents in the area.

He has framed his candidacy as an effort to bring a “results-driven approach” to Washington, contrasting his campaign with what he views as ineffective representation.

With the primary approaching, voters in NY-9 will soon decide whether to continue with established leadership or give a new candidate—one increasingly familiar in Crown Heights—a chance to represent them in Congress.
