Jewish Revival in North Park, San Diego

chabad.org

More than 50 years ago, the North Park neighborhood of San Diego was home to a thriving Jewish community. But after years of ups and downs, it is now a hub of culture, creativity and art.

Today, its rich Jewish legacy is being rekindled as Jewish life blossoms once again. To that end, new Chabad emissaries Rabbi Dovber and Sara Batya Uzan have made North Park their home.

Since their arrival, the Uzans have been warmly embraced by the community. They’ve met many Jewish families, young professionals and even longtime residents who remember the Jewish heyday in that part of Southern California.

Rabbi Dovber and Sara Batya are weaving together their new community through Shabbat dinners, holiday services, Torah classes, and events for women and men.

Beyond North Park, the Uzanss’ Chabad House also serves as a home away from home for Jewish students at the University of San Diego.
