Chabad Soldier Honored as President’s Distinguished Serviceman on Israel’s 78th Independence Day

A young Chabad-Lubavitch chossid serving in the Intelligence Branch of the IDF has been recognized with one of the country’s highest honors, being named a President’s Distinguished Serviceman during the State of Israel’s 78th Independence Day celebrations.

The 26-year-old officer, identified only as Lt. Col. N. due to security restrictions, received the award at an official ceremony held at the President’s Residence, attended by senior military leadership, including IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.

Raised in several countries before making the life-changing decision to move to Eretz Yisroel at the age of 15, the young chossid arrived through the Na’aleh program, driven by a deep desire to build his future in the Holy Land.

Despite not being able to serve in a combat role, he chose to dedicate himself fully in another critical area of the military. Throughout his service in intelligence, he distinguished himself through exceptional commitment, perseverance, and diligence, earning the respect and admiration of his commanders.

The official commendation highlighted not only his professional excellence, but also his personal dedication. Alongside his demanding service, he is a husband and father, balancing family life with his responsibilities to protect the Jewish people.

Even during times of war, he continued his vital work with a strong sense of responsibility, embodying the values of mesirus nefesh and unwavering commitment.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions and devotion to duty, he was selected to receive the President’s Distinguished Service Medal.
