BDE: Harav Tzemach Yosef Yitzchok Wilansky, 71, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Harav Hatomim Tzemach Yosef Yitzchok (ben Reb Yehoshua) Wilansky OBM, a much-loved husband, father and grandfather from Montreal, Canada. He passed away on Sunday night, the 3rd Iyar, 5786.

He was 71 years old.

Rabbi Wilansky was known to many as the famed pre-1A teacher at Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim Montreal who shaped hundreds of young children’s lives.

He is survived by his wife Malke (nee Hendel), and his children Mendy Wilansky (Montreal, Canada), Dovid Leib Wilansky (Baltimore, MD) Mrs. Sarah’le Lesches (Montreal, Canada), Mrs. Rivky Perl (Crown Heights), Eli Wilansky (Pittsburgh, PA), Yaakov Wilansky (Roslyn, NY), Moshe Wilansky (Florida), Mrs. Chaya Gottlieb (Crown Heights), Sholom Wilansky (Kingston, PA), Mrs. Toby Wolf (Crown Heights), Boruch Wilansky (Las Vegas, NV), Shmuel Wilansky (Puerto Rico), Noach Wilansky (Crown Heights), Yissachor Tzvi Wilansky (Crown Heights), and many grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings; Dovid Wilansky (Elizabeth, NJ), Moshe Wilansky (Portland, MN), Chaim Wilansky (Parkland, FL), and Mrs. Toby Halon (Crown Heights).

The Levaya will take place on Monday, April 20, 2026 – 3 Iyar 5786, at l’erech 3:30PM, by Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch in Montreal. 6405 Westbury.
