BDE: Rabbi Yakov Noach Lazaros, 78, OBM
With great sadness we report the passing of Rabbi Yakov Noach Lazaros OBM, the Shliach of the Rebbe to Farmington, MA. He passed away Shabbos morning, the 1st of Iyar, 5786.
He was 78 years old.
As a young couple in 1978, Rabbi Yakov and Sheva Lazaros moved to Framingham, Massachusetts to take charge of the newly formed Chabad House. The first thing they did was start a Hebrew school which in its heyday boasted some 60 students. In 1990 the Chabad House evolved into a synagogue and the name changed to Congregation Bais Chabad.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sheva Lazaros, and their children: Sruly Lazaros (Brooklyn, NY), Chaim Lazaros (Hong Kong), Moshe Lazaros (Lakeland, FL), Gitzy Small (Atlanta, GA), Sarah Lazaros (Manhattan, NY), Mendel Lazaros (Englewood, NJ), and Shaya Lazaros (Ohr Yehuda, EY).
The Levaya will take place on Sunday, April 19th at New Montefiore Cemetery.
The first day of Shiva, Sunday April 19th, will take place at the home of David and Judi Lazaros, in Woodmere NY, from 5-9 PM. Further Shiva schedule to follow.
